Will not run on startup

Posted 9 Apr 2010 by traver Post: I do not have "(Start->Control Panel->Software) " what I do have is (Start->Control Panel->Programs and Features)...I am in classic mode. When I look under Programs and features I have Boinc bur I do not have WCGBoinc. BUT..I think you may be on to something. In my very original install I installed from the Boinc site as I stated...HOWEVER when I went to the WCG site I was confused by they're asking me to install WCGBoinc. Since they did not say that WCG Boinc was not needed if I had already installed the original Boinc, I installed WCG Boink from the WCG site. In other words I guess I installed the app twice...once from each site and installed the WCGBoing over top of the original Boinc. After that, nothting would work so I reinstalled Boink from the Boink site and everything started to work except it will not auto connect and start. I have to manually load the manager to actually get any work started. Would a complete uninstall and re-install possibly fix things. If I do that do I have to re-link to all my projects and re-state all my preferences? Will I be able to use the same Username and Passwords etc etc. Thanks for the help |

Will not run on startup

Posted 9 Apr 2010 by traver Post: Hi Prior to my first email I had done full reboots numerous times. In the boinc manager I have the "run always" option chencked. I have now deleted all references to boinc in my startup file and have done a full reboot. I now get the "Failed to establish a connection" when I pass my mouse over the Boinc icon in the system tray. The application will only start when I right click on the tray Icon and select "Open World Community Grid-Boinc Mnanger". IE...still no auto start up Any more thoughts?? Thanks Traver |

Posted 9 Apr 2010 by traver Post: Hi No matter what I do I cannot get BOINC to run on startup. I downloaded ver 6:10:43 two days ago. - I have checked the "run manager at login" box. - I have both boinc.exe and boincmgr.exe in my startup file in windows - Windows firewall and defender are both turned OFF - I run Kaspersky Internet Security but even if I totally disable it, BOINC will still not run on startup - In Kaspersky I have Boinc and all its attendant application files listed as "trusted" - I am NOT running BOINC as a "service" - I have over 30 gigs of unused disk space - I am running Vista home premium What do I do to get boinc to run on computer startup?? Thanks Traver |
