Thanks for your quick response.

The tips are surely of good help.

BUT:
There are no RALPH tasks (WUs) in the cache.
No RALPH tasks suspended.
I know how the buttons work.
I know what sync is --- as far as I know exiting boinc and restarting rig (PC) and starting boinc does a sync on its own.
I had done it anyway before posting.
Hadn't crunched RALPH for a year or so.

NOW:
after re-checking the three rigs, the strange message was gone!
Same with the RALPH project -- it was gone (removed).
I was able to add RALPH with the correct URL.

I have the impression, that I did not wait long enough.
What is long enough?
Well, the other eight rigs were more or less immediately removed from RALPH.
The other three took around 40 (!) hours to react.

And let me asure, that I did not do anything else inbetween (that what they all say).

Thanks again - you all stay healthy.

If you added these other projects through an account manager such as BAM! or GridRepublic, you will have to remove them via there. You can check if you are using an account manager if the Tools menu has a Sync option. It will also tell which AM you use then.

... it is not all THAT easy ...

I "detached" all my rigs using BAM (unchecked the ATTACH) for the project!

So then I was able to REMOVE in BOINC Manager the "Ralph at home" project, except for three of my rigs.
These three rigs give me a status of "... Will remove when tasks done".
What does this mean?
I don't have any tasks running for RALPH -- haven't for a LONG time.

Dumb as I am, I will try almost everything ...
So I let my only one other running project finish all WUs (on all three rigs that are showing me the message).
Then stopped BOINC.
Restarted all three rigs.

AND guess what: Same problem err... message.

I would appreciate any help very much!

@RH

Sounds good if not even perfect ...
Patience will tell!

Hope you cought my EDIT1 and 2 ...

Here is EDIT 3:
Strange things are happening: Suddenly, AND I mean suddenly, I am receiving CPU WUs on E@H.
Being waiting for this over 24 hours.

So at least that small problem seems to be solved.
I wonder if somebody is tinkering around.
Maybe the "Easter bunny" got his paws off the FIC (Fiberglass Internet Connection) ....

MANY THANKS

@RH

Thanks for taking me seriously and for the new/further advice!

Doing an update on EACH concerned project after changing, let's say, "anything" is basic procedure for me.
When there is no immediatly apparent change in behavior, I have also "learned" to suspend ALL projects AND exit BOINC Manager
AND re-boot the rig.

I have been doing this successfully for ages.

So, NO, the notices and messages do re-appear -- I have tried a lot of different scenarios before posting here.
Even running the cache empty before closing/shutting erverything down.

To repeating myself: It is a new (for me) BM behaviour after upgrading from 7.14.2 to 7.16.5 !

I will have a look at the VirtualBox issue. But I am not using VB at the moment.

Addendum:
Since the upgrade, I am unable to receive CPU jobs that I was pleasantly getting with v7.14.2.
I only upgraded, made no other changes (I know everone says that also) and since then no more CPU WU (on E@H), just GPU WUs.
Hereby the interesting thing is, that BM in event log does not bring/show the RED alert message for E@H, but just for the others,
which I am NOT running at all at the present time.

Side note for the people wondering why I am supposedly ranting my head off:
I have several rigs, which often have to be stoped/re-adjusted/finetuned (the rigs - not BOINC or projects) etc., that is why the Notice tab and the REd messages in the Event Log automatically attract my attention in the fear of me having done/changed something "wrong" and now affecting BOINC or whatever.

> Hope you had the nerve to read all the way to here <

THANKS again.

EDIT 1:
Just checked Virtualbox Problem that you referred to.
The Event Log pointed out the problem quite well - maybe not for a newbie.

EDIT 2:
As someone pointed out, that these buggy messages are a nice SERVICE to the user, well, that raises the question on my side, why I am not informed that I have GPU turned OFF at my other projects?
Am I ranting again?

...You sounded aggravated and like you were having a go at Richard, who is a volunteer helper just like about everyone here on the forums, present company included. Perhaps you didn't know how BOINC/BOINC Manager worked.

@Jord:

Sorry if I hurt your or anybody elses feelings.
If you read it right, I am not going or did not go at anyone -- at least not intentionally.
Of course I appreciate every help - even if it does not.
I think I know halfway how the manager works (I know, I know, everybody says that).
AND I konw that IT IS now working differently than it did with V7.14.2
AND that bugs me - it is costing me a lot of time for all my rigs --> (this is not a rant - it is just "unimportant" facts)!

@everyone else:

I just changed all profiles/preferences on all relevant (the ones mentioned in my event log) projects to use
CPU and GPU ---- then stopped BOINC, rebooted PC ...
AND guess what, the messages still appear.

I can't find any docs on this "new" behaviour either.

So, thank you all for chiming in on my very unimportant problem ... I APPRECIATE YOUR HELP VERY MUCH !!

AND please remember, my mother tongue/language is not English, perhaps YOU can speak or articulate yourself better
in a foreign language than I can.

Have you all a nice day and stay away from the virus ...

Well spoken ...
Of course you are right - using this type of argumentation, one could think of many things that could be put on the notice tab as a service to the user.
Let me tell you, I knew/know about this situation.

Still does not explain why just the one project is forwarded to the notice tab board.

And why repeatedly, I mean a one time notice would be fine.

And saying "run BOINC with just the client and not the manager, or use ..." is very helpful - I would never have thought of that.

Sorry to even have asked for help.
Just ignore my post.

Re-booted PC and again received an new Notice(1) message (checked time stamp).
....

The settings are not (as far as I can tell) retrospective, therefore you will still see the notice that you received before you changed the flag but never get another.

As I said, I checked the timestamp. The time stamp changes and is always a new/changed one.
Just retried it.
Also if it were the old notice the number "one" in parenthesis behind the Tab-name would not show up again..

The second question was "why just a notice for the one project"?
And the first question was "does never mean NO notices at all"?

I hate to say it, but there are notices that are important or interesting, so I really don't want to turn it completely off.

Have a nice day ...

I upgraded from v7.14.2

Setting to "never" turns everything off - or am I wrong with this assumption?.

I just find it very irritating to see the tab saying Notices(1) - that forces me to check the Notice -- just to see this certain special reminder about no CPU.
Strangely, I only get one notice (in this case from amicable), but for the other projects there is no notice.
One could say: either a notice for all or for none.
But looking into Event Log I see the RED colored warning for all the other projects where I also have set no cpu.
The amicable project is the first project that appears in the event log.

Maybe I am understanding something wrong?

Thanks for your response.

EDIT:
Just tried setting notices to "never".
Re-booted PC and again received an new Notice(1) message (checked time stamp).
So, what is the "never" option good for, if does not work?

I would appreciate advice or help:

Just upgraded to v7.16.5.
Now BOINC Manager is giving me a Notice that seems to be a new "behavior" for this new release (at least to me).

The Notice says:

"Amicable Numbers: Notice from BOINC
Your settings do not allow fetching tasks for CPU. To fix this, you can change Project Preferences on the project's web site.
4/11/2020 9:03:37 AM"

The Event Log shows several red colored messages (one per project), in respect to the above cited Notice:

"4/11/2020 9:03:37 AM | Amicable Numbers | Your settings do not allow fetching tasks for CPU. To fix this, you can change Project Preferences on the project's web site."

How can I suppress these "annoying" messages?
YES, I have searched through docs and forums, but couldn't find an answer.

Thanks and stay virus free ...
