Some issues at Rosetta- on Friday (the 13th) they set about cleaning out all of the spam from their forums.
What happened was the loss of over 8,500 user accounts, many of them still very much active crunchers. Cleaning up of the clean-up is progressing, several previously lost accounts have returned.
Well, I had an account on Rosetta, a couple of years ago. I don't remember if I ever attached any computers to it. However it seems as if that account no longer exists. "No such account"
I guess they haven't been able to restore all 8,500 user accounts.
If there are no computers attached to it and thus no points it is probably part of their target and has been deleted as a potential spam account.
I think I attached one computer, but I know that I never run any tasks, due to the fact that the computer in question wasn't able to handle any of the tasks that was available back then. So, maybe they didn't bother to restore accounts that had no credit too.

-5 C now, but no snow on the ground. One thing is clear though, despite the climate change. We will get snow even this winter, and probably some days with -10 to -20 C.

Not a word from the Dodo team, for 16 days. A very short project.....

Post on forum today saying they want to sort out some more of the errors crunchers are experiencing before releasing more work.
Thank you Dave. Better late than never, I guess.

Edit: Forums may be down but MCM tasks still downloading on my phone.
Yes, the forum is dead, but the rest of the website is working, as well the BOINC part of WCG.
I mailed the team, in in case they haven't noticed the issue yet.

10-days of total silence from the team. No new work despite having promised new work at the end of last week.
Still not added to the BOINC list of Science projects, or to BoincStats.

Tomorrow, the winter is coming this way. Lots of snow, and wind.
-2C here now, and the temperature is falling rapidly.

After having a mail conversation with Jay, on the project, I decided to join the project. New work probably at the end of this week.

There was a short "System Error" event on the WCG website a few minutes ago. It came back though pretty fast.
It's clear by now though, that WCG doesn't have the required infrastructure to run ARP. Downloading and uploading,
of even the small MCM files, still suffers from lots of HTTP errors.

Edit, added: I'm taking a break form WCG, because this is not very fun at the moment. I'll do some research about the new project dodo@home , and maybe I'll join it.

Well here is s a BOINC project. dodo@home

We're embarking on one heck of a journey, one with a thousand steps... our ultimate aim is to bring the Dodo back from extinction. Using our unique software and your help, we will decode the genome AND many, many others along the way. Join us and let’s make history! Together, we will make the saying 'as dead as a dodo' a thing of the past.

https://team.dodoathome.com/dodo/
Looks very interesting, but until the project shows up on the official BOINC Science projects page, as well as the different stats pages, I'm not going to join the project.

In reply to Richard Haselgrove's message of 6 Nov 2024:
Three things frighten me about this:

  1. The mainstream media completely failed to see this coming. There were hundreds of polls, but any of them that even hinted at this were sidelined and ignored.
  2. The number of American voters that simply lap up tRump's assertions that he, personally, put everything back to rights with the powers at his disposal. As Britain (well, the Conservative party) discovered during Brexit, you can't change the behaviour of other countries by simply passing laws on your own side of the frontier: you have to negotiate and persuade as well.
  3. tRump ignores the reasoning behind some of the policies he wants to reverse - notably Net Zero. If the USA goes back to polluting beyond the carrying capacity of the planet, that will rebound on the USA. I wonder if he's even noticed the increasing number and strength of hurricanes recently? If he has, he sure hasn't joined the dots.

Yeah, I forgot about the climate crisis. Of course, Trump will for the second time immediately take the U.S out of the Paris Agreement. Remember, Trump, his followers, and large parts of the Republican party, do not believe in climate change. No matter how many large hurricanes, or other climate events, that hits the U.S, and the world, they will continue to say it's all a part of the natural climate cycle. After all, they do believe that climate change is a hoax, and the scientists are all part of a huge conspiracy.

It's bad, really, really bad....

Oh dear.
Oh dear, indeed.
4 years of chaos again, sigh. This time, G7, and WTO, as well as the membership in NATO for the U.S. is on the table,
I wouldn't be surprised, if Trump wants to leave G7, WTO, and NATO, and bring the U.S into the Russia ruled BRICS instead.

And when it comes to Ukraine, Trump will try to force Ukraine into a very bad deal with Russia. It's going to be up to a more and
more divided EU, to increase the military help to the Ukraine. I have my doubts that EU will be able and willing to do that.

And with the Supreme Court, and now the Senate in his hands (don't know about the House yet), it's even more likely that Trump
will be able to rule as the Dictator he always wanted to be.

So, bad news all over, as a result of this election.

You don't need to babysit and manually click the retry button. Instead use a script. or batch file running this command, at your chosen interval, in the folder where boinccmd.exe is located:

boinccmd.exe --network_available

That will make BOINC automatically try stalled downloads.

Edit: But by the looks of how the WCG website behaves now, that may now help, because I would not be surprised if we're heading for another "SYSTEM ERROR", and a total breakdown of WCG, pretty soon.

Over 2 hours since tasks allocated to my box. I am not sure any will download before my CPDN tasks are all finished in a few days time. Have they actually moved to the new infrastructure for the storage for these tasks yet or are they still sending them out from Kembril?
AFAIK, the new ARP infrastructure have nothing to do with the crunching of ARP. The WU's and preparations of WU's, are still going to be handled by Krembil. Downloads, uploads, and reporting.

There's some info on these locations about it all:

https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/about_us/article.s?articleId=811
https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/about_us/article.s?articleId=814

There's more links on those two links, to older updates when it comes to the ARP restart, and what it will take.

If Trump wins, there's going to be hell for the next 4-years, for the entire democratic Western world.
If Harris wins, Trump and his followers will start hell immediately in the U.S. of A.

Interesting days ahead, starting tomorrow.

ARP have restarted (test run now it seems, before the "real" restart on Monday November 4.)
https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,46861_offset,0#699364

And as ususal, there's tons of "transient HTTP errors" in the BOINC log. I don't do ARP, only MCM1, and OPNG when OPNG is available..
It's clear that the WCG infrastructure still isn't good enough for the ARP project.

I wonder if we dare to talk about the U.S election, without the thread exploding?
