Another Trump Special from yesterday "We take over, and own Gaza".
I guess it is OK then that Putin wants to own, at least the Eastern part of Ukraine.

It's getting more and more bizarre this v2 of the Trump presidency,

The plan is clear and obvious. Of course Trump/Putin/Xi needs Canada as the 51:st state.
With Canada in the U.S, the whole of North America is linked to Russia, with just a short
body of water in between, and Russia already shares a border with China.

Three totalitarian states joined into one huge totalitarian state.

The project with the Manchurian candidate worked.

Hello George Orwell. You only had the wrong year.

DOGE is Gestapo.

This is just the beginning, since SCOTUS has ruled that the President have full immunity for everything
he does in the role as President.

I'm sorry, but the U.S in on a fast track towards fascism and dictatorship.
"There will be no need for any more elections" Remember who said that, and when?
Putin and Xi, is laughing their a**es off.

In reply to Dave's message of 2 Feb 2025:
I guess that will not be fixed, until Monday at the earliest.
Two tasks reported since I first looked this morning. I have my preferences to just accept ARP tasks and while no new ones, I am just getting the no tasks available for Africa Rain Project message.
Well, that was a huge surprise that they fixed it during the weekend. It started with people getting the ""Server can't open database" message from BOINC, which later became the " Feeder not running" message. That was a clue, that someone was doing something with the servers.

The BOINC part of WCG is currently screwed up. Uploading tasks works, but reporting and getting new work is borked.
The reason for that is:
"Server can't open database" error, project backoff 1 hour

I guess that will not be fixed, until Monday at the earliest.

Not a word from the Dodo team on the project forum, since December 16.
Not a single answer to the questions asked.
That's even worse than the WCG team feedback :-)

Seti is still down
Maybe they decided to finally take down the SETI@home forum for good?
After all, nothing is happening with the project, and the chance that SETI@home
will come back with new work, is probably 0.0%.

I have just watched the most bizarre thing, I've seen for a very long time.
Trump attending the WEF i Davos, virtually from Washington.

Speaking to a bunch of equally bizarre capitalists, and answering as* ki**ing questions from some of them.
If only 10% of what he says will come true, we're in to a he** of a crazy four years. It's scary, and probably
the end of WTO, and the rule based world order. The wild west, is back....

I'm not a psychiatrist, but, Trump would likely be diagnosed as a...........................

That virtual appearance of Trump, in front of the WEF in Davos, will probably appear in my worst nightmares.

WCG website is down with the usual System Error.

First time in 2025.

Edit: It's back. Seems to have been a short glitch, or perhaps they shut something down, to do some quick maintenance.

WCG is up and running. After some problems, visiting 2018 through a worm hole, which f'ed up lots of tasks, they managed to return to 2025.
New work is being sent out too.

Finally, at least something is happening, but WCG is not up yet:

Netowrking issues have been resolved. The data centre staff is finalizing our access.
Well, the data center may be finalizing "their" access, but "our" access is another question :-)
Traceroute reports that the target is still not reachable.

January 4, 2025
Update from the data centre: "Having issues with the physical network , likely can't get it diagnosed and fixed until Monday, January 6.". As a result - we still do not have a connection to our servers.

And the night went by, even in Toronto, and still no access to WCG.

But my main concern now, is the collapse of the old cast iron sewage system (from 1965), under my apartment building. That is giving the residents of 135 apartments a hell of a problem.
That's what happens if you think that cast iron will last forever. The moronic owner think that it will be possible now to "reline" a system that has collapsed in several places.

I have seen film taken from inside the pipes , and as expected they are full of rusticles/barnacles, and in some locations even totally collapsed.

We have been notified that the core system at SHARCNET is coming online now (5pm). They are planning to complete it tonight (January 3). We are waiting for the access to our systems, and will start turning everything back on as soon as we gain login.

11:04 AM in Toronto, and WCG is still dead. No big surprise though. I guess we can forget about Jan 3 as the date WCG would be back.

In reply to Grant (SSSF)'s message of 17 Dec 2024:
Some issues at Rosetta- on Friday (the 13th) they set about cleaning out all of the spam from their forums.
What happened was the loss of over 8,500 user accounts, many of them still very much active crunchers. Cleaning up of the clean-up is progressing, several previously lost accounts have returned.
Well, I had an account on Rosetta, a couple of years ago. I don't remember if I ever attached any computers to it. However it seems as if that account no longer exists. "No such account"
I guess they haven't been able to restore all 8,500 user accounts.
If there are no computers attached to it and thus no points it is probably part of their target and has been deleted as a potential spam account.
I think I attached one computer, but I know that I never run any tasks, due to the fact that the computer in question wasn't able to handle any of the tasks that was available back then. So, maybe they didn't bother to restore accounts that had no credit too.
