Sadly, it' appears not to prevent forum spam

Of course that simple validation doesn't work, if you register with a valid email account that you have control over.

I've done that for years, in special tealight holders, and I know very well the dangers of having too many, too close.
The window sill is wide, and made of marble, and it's nothing flammable even close to the tealights.

Grumble: It's dark at 16:00 hours.
Glory: It's dark enough at 16:00 hours, for me to light up some tealights on my window sill.

I get both Nvidia and iGPU tasks without having set the choice for CPU to "Yes". Not that it's easy to get GPU work, but one certainly do not have to set CPU to "Yes".

The previous version stopped working recently because of an expired SSL file
that prevented it from communicating with several BOINC projects,
with the BOINC server, and with Science United.

The last bit could be thought of as progress.

+1
Science United is an abomination.

So then, it's time to cancel Christmas too of course. Not everyone celebrates Christmas, so it's not "inclusive” and “equitable" either.
And of course we must cancel all birthday parties, since they are not "inclusive” and “equitable" either. Not everyone celebrates birthdays.
Cancel all holidays btw, since not everyone celebrates the same holidays, therefore no holidays are "inclusive” and “equitable".
Geeze, where is this world heading??

Edit: Come to think of it, cancel life too, since not everyone lives their lives the same, which means life in itself is not "inclusive” and “equitable".
Edit2: I'm going to pour out my tea now, since not everyone drinks tea, making tea drinking not "inclusive” and “equitable".

This so called "political correctness" is going to destroy the fabric of society, and create great social problems, as well as civil war in many regions of the world.
Thanks Dog, I'm not young any longer, and don't have to see the total destruction of society.

V 7.16.7 should be a sufficiently modern version I believe.
If you're as close as that, why not go the whole hog and update?

Because I'm a Grumpy Swede, who doesn't use any more modern OS than Windows 8.1, and even still use as old OS as XP and Windows 7. Also Grumpy enough
to refuse Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and on top of that refuse to have a smartphone.

LOL

Ripping a single file out of the installer isn't as easy as it sounds - it isn't a standard archive. Much easier (and quicker) to use the download link from curl, and drop it in from there. It's the same file.

Yeah, I just noticed that with the v7.16.7 installer. I thought 7-zip could to it, because I've done the same for individual files from other installers with 7-zip. However, in this case, the files are not possible to individually extract.
Case closed.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but one doesn't have to install the new version, when it's available for Windows.
Just ripping out the updated ca-bundle.crt file from the installer, and dropping it into the BOINC folder, replacing the old one should be enough.

No problems on WCG when it comes to the ca-bundle.crt issue. WCG is my only project, so I'm not taking any action for now.

During the short uptime, I noticed that one persons ban, had been removed, and that person was no longer banned.
Further than that, I can't go :-)

Edit: And now the site works again. Likely not for too long though.
And another person banned instead it seems.

Might be DA, running something terribly heavy against the database.
