2) Message boards : Projects : Coronavirus projects? (Message 97148)

Hi

I'm back to boinc/fah for corona. I was with boinc at 2008 for few years. I't pity scientific projects is so bugy and working if it like to work. And.. not open source. After few days (few servers, few gpu was working) I suspend work. I'm not 100% sure my electricity and equipment is used in correct way

But is looks HUGE to see people around globe could make ew fah 767 977 TFLOPS. Compared eg Summit 148,600.0 TFLOPS and others

It's pity I have some spare cpu (sometimes few gpu) to be used

Hello,

I don't know if there was suggestion like this. I time of crypto/blockchain. It's nice to make crypto as next step of old fashion points ?
Make it simple on Stellar, Ethereum. Some cryptocurrency aka "Boinc Coin"
Ask exchanges to add "Boinc Coin" to them for free

Nice for people to 'earn' crypto. Even if it's value is '0', just allow people to 'earn' crypto not points

4) Message boards : BOINC client : Docker Boinc Client v7.17.0 ? (Message 97146)

I'm a member (volunteer, small scale) of the boinc dev team. The source code at https://github.com/BOINC/boinc-client-docker is certainly part of the collective BOINC project - different volunteers work on different part of the project, according to their interests and skill levels. You can see that my contribution was accepted by the team at places like #3183, if you want confirmation.

The discussion here about current version numbers is accurate, as far as it goes.

all is clear now (https://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Installing_BOINC)
web pages making little mess (https://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php)
I was with boinc at 2008, back for moment to support corona fight. No spare time to reading ton of documentation like years ago

5) Message boards : Projects : Rosetta or Folding@home? (Message 97145)

Post:
Folding is not a one man operation, it is run in collaboration with quite a large number of laboratories. Pande, or Baker indeed, may be seen as a figure head, in the same way as some might view Trump.

What stopped me running FaH was, as I saw it, a greater time dependence, requiring quite a rapid turn around of work units, presumably for an underlying serial approach to their work. That is fair enough if their methods are getting them to where they want to be, I have no trouble with that, it just doesn't suit me.

I just stop fah & Rosetta too... bucause lack of transprency. They are not open source, in fact, I don't know what my cpu/gpu calculate
In my opinion if someone got huge support from community, there could not be secrets, any not transparency etc
Backing to mining crypto in spare time

6) Message boards : BOINC client : Docker Boinc Client v7.17.0 ? (Message 97138)

We are in an unfortunate interim phase where release version 7.16 is slowly, ever so slowly, crawling towards the official release line. The Docker team probably had their own imperative for making an interim release without the wait.

So account:
https://hub.docker.com/u/boinc

is Boinc official ?
If yes - ok.

Just alarming form me official:
"7.4.22 Recommended version"
from
https://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php

vs

"v 7.17.0" from
https://hub.docker.com/r/boinc/client

p.s.
Download section at https://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php is REALLY outdated...

More on time is there

Doesn't the odd number .17 indicate a testing version? Help>about shows BOINC Manager (Pre-Release)
version 7.17.0(x64) on mine but then I rolled my own after downloading source from git-hub.

I don't know

"# docker exec boinc boinccmd --client_version
Client version: 7.17.0"

just question if it's "official" (could be testing also), or someone take source, add smth, complile, create docker...

Someone from boinc dev team could answer ?

is it officjal boinc account ? https://hub.docker.com/u/boinc
