WuPROP just went down-website inaccessible

It's back again.
It seems to have been some remnant from the server move this morning.

I crunched my first PG btw, they went fine, currently I'm trying Milky, no probs so far. I'd like to have a WUProp app, is it something AF has to take care of or does B@P do the compilations?

Hacking alarm is over, Krzyszp has reacted and reclaimed his site.

Will there be any social event where "ordinary german (or other european) crunchers" could somehow meet the devs e.a. that doesn't go beyond the scope of the meeting?

You actually have to create a BOINC wide team. It doesn't happen automagicaly....

Or perhaps I'm misunderstanding the issue.

You're not entirely right, as our team was even automagicaly created at BOINC-wide, as we were #1 in SETI and all mayor SETI-teams were imported automagicaly ;) It is #148, and it should have been imported.

There were glitches with the import script before, some unusual characters in the team name and/or description went berserk. That shouldn't happen, everything that's allowed to be in that fields should not interfere with the import. If something doesn't work with the import, it should not be allowed in the respective fields.

Team import seems to have had some glitch at evo@home. Look in this thread.

SETI.Germany was not imported automatically, there were only 887 teams imported before, and 1335 teams are in the data base.

I find it strange. On the Windows7 machine I look at Einstein@home and have the following statistic links:
Free-DC
BOINCstats
Team Starfire World BOINC Stats 'N Stones
The Knights Who Say 'Ni!'
BOINC Combined Statistics
BOINC all Project Stats
BOINC Statistics for the WORLD!

And all are working fine except BOINCstats. Could that really be a setting problem?

Thanks

It's working fine in my account, the link is http://www.boincstats.com/stats/boinc_user_graph.php?pr=bo&id=999daca9efac06bffb127a67d9c47f12.
What's the link with you?

It's an OS-bug, not a BOINC-bug. OS is short for Operating System, and that's ubuntu in this case.
13) Message boards : Questions and problems : Why does BOINC constantly asks for GPU-work in projects where there is no GPU-app? (Message 34505)
Posted 3 Sep 2010 by Profile Saenger
Post:
It's frustrating, BOINC is so utterly dumb, it fails to grasp that only very few projects have GPU-applications. I constantly get this here:
Fr 03 Sep 2010 21:12:14 CEST	DNA@Home	Requesting new tasks for GPU
Fr 03 Sep 2010 21:22:16 CEST	malariacontrol.net	Reporting 1 completed tasks, requesting new tasks for GPU
Fr 03 Sep 2010 21:26:31 CEST	VRS: Virus Respiratorio Sincitial	Requesting new tasks for GPU
Fr 03 Sep 2010 21:47:15 CEST	ibercivis	Reporting 1 completed tasks, requesting new tasks for GPU
Fr 03 Sep 2010 22:05:07 CEST	Hydrogen@Home	Requesting new tasks for GPU
Fr 03 Sep 2010 22:09:43 CEST	Pirates@Home	Requesting new tasks for GPU
Fr 03 Sep 2010 22:12:23 CEST	DNA@Home	Requesting new tasks for GPU
Fr 03 Sep 2010 22:14:18 CEST	eon2	Requesting new tasks for GPU
Fr 03 Sep 2010 22:16:44 CEST	CPDN Beta	Requesting new tasks for GPU

And as WUs are rare for some projects, and even after such a senseless attempt BOINC waits for the next question for real work on CPUs, I'll miss out on those.
Is there any way to tell BOINC on a per project base not to ask such stupid things?
14) Message boards : Questions and problems : BOINC accounts not merging (Message 32439)

Post:
As this is quite often a problem, there's a whole area in BOINCstats forum dedicated to CPID splits.

You can as well read the FAQ there first:
Why do I have duplicate/split accounts in the BOINC combined stats?

The cause of this is the CPID, Cross Project IDentifier. Every project assigns a new user a CPID. It is partly based on the email address you used to sign up, the other part is random.
The CPID is used by BOINCstats to identify a user across projects.
Whenever you sign up with a new project, you'll get a new account on BOINCstats because the CPID is new.

What to do to make sure you'll end up with one BOINCstats account:

* Use the exact same email address for every project.
* Run at least one system with all projects, or one system with project A and B, and one system with project B and C. If there is a project that runs isolated from the other projects, its CPID with never line up.

When you join a new project, this project assigns you a new CPID. This CPID can either change to the same CPID as the other projects, or the other projects change (one by one) to the new CPID.

It is impossible for me to manually edit your accounts to create one account. It would take to much time too do this for everyone. Just wait a while, and your accounts will line up automatically.

One last thing, which is not too important, but nice for the stats: use the same username across projects, otherwise you get a username like 'Al Bundy @ SAH / Al Bundy @ Predictor / A. Bundy @ CPDN'.

The 25% is for 1 core, only when another program outside of BOINC uses that many CPU cycles (check Windows Task Manager). It'll suspend the whole of BOINC since it's BOINC that is taking up all left-over CPU cycles at that time, when you do not want that.

I still don't know what will happen on a normal PC, i.e. one with 2-8 cores.
Will it stop completely if only one core is used for more than 25% or will only that core be taken from BOINC?

Is the 25% that what normal people will think, 25% of the overall power of the machine, or just 25% of one ( sometimes quite tiny) part of it?

Aah, and I would have to look in the gnome system monitor, there's no use for the windows task manager on my machine ;)

But why this ridiculous low default?
It's OK not to put the "0" in default, but 50% should have been minimum.

Isn't 50% more than 25%?

Yes, if it's lower, it will stop BOINC earlier. That's wrong. At least for most participants and for the "Use of unused CPU-cycles".

25% means it will stop quite early, 50% will give it a bit more lee way, 100% == 0, i.e. it's always running.

What's "25%" anyway? One core at 25% or 1 core busy on a quad?

Both - it's the same thing, as far as BOINC's concerned.

It's something very different.
25% of 1 core on my computer is only 6.25% of it's CPU-power.

How is it supposed to work on multi-core main boards?
Shut down one core for every 25% core use on the board?
Shut down the whole board if 25% total CPU-usage is reached?
Shut down the whole board if 25% of a single core is reached?
