Generally, this indicates a timing problem during start up.

Once you have booted and have the message no usable gpu, you need to restart boinc using boinc-client restart

Is it possible to run more than 1 work unit on the gpu? I'm only getting about 1/5 of available Gflops on Moo! Wrapper.

Can I double up? Or more?

Returned as errors. No chance to rerun them.

I have encountered this problem when my internet connection is down. Somehow, the boinc manager gets confused when starting up. I think it shares sockets or something.

If this is not it, then I would next reinstall libc.so.6 since that is the module that spits up.

When you run multiple boinc projects, the boinc client rotates the execution from work unit to work unit based on the projects' resource shares and the duration you have set in your preferences, typically 60 minutes.

In your case, the SIMAP WU had processed for 60 Minutes and the boinc client switched to another project.

If you want one project to have preference over all others, go to your account page on that project and raise the resource share to something higher. I have 2500 set for SIMAP, 1250 for most others, and 625 for low priority projects.

Crunch on!

I was running 2 quads on RNA World (which has no checkpointing) and lost all 8 work units when comcast reset my cable modem.

Is this normal?

This is the first time I have crunched without checkpoints.

I use Debian Linux AMD64 and when I try to attach to Sztaki, I get a message indicating that the server does not recognize my OS. Is there a way I could have an alias for the OS description that they would recognize?

The question that still remains: How can all my teammates get good WUs and I am the only one that can't get them?

There's only one totally believable explanation for this: You're jinxed. ;-)

Try to reset the project. Or a detach/reattach.

With everything I have tried: after I installed the app or boinc version or library versions, I would detach, reboot, attach and test. None of it worked.

I even created a new user with a new email and that didn't work, so I know I'm not the one who is jinxed. I have done every fix that I have been able to find on Google. Nothing worked.

I even cleared all the cookies and reset my cable modem and router,

I think I will try a non-BOINC project next month.

process got signal 11

This is a SIGSEGV error. These can be caused by:
- Memory out of bounds errors.
- An exception.
- Co-processor boundary violation.
- Stack fault.
- Page fault.
- General protection error.

So it can be something on your computer, or with the application or tasks.
See if your wingmen also get this error. If they do, it's 99.9% sure it's not your computer.

These are benign messages telling you that the application that's used isn't compiled against one of the newest APIs. You can ignore them, they don't do any harm.

I have checked, and they all get the exceptions and it doesn't matter the OS, the BOINC version or the CPU manufacturer.

The question that still remains: How can all my teammates get good WUs and I am the only one that can't get them?

There are no devs responding on that project (it must be summer vacation) so I am submitting here to see if anyone has a remedy.

I have used BOINC versions 5.2.12, 6.2.12 and 6.2.14 -- no go.

I tried a static linked version -- no go.

SIMAP, Orbit@Home, and 3x+1 all run fine.

I am lost!

OK. I got the key, got in checked the password and email address, logged out and back in using the email and password, and everything worked.

Except-- General-, BOINC-, and Message board-preferences were not reachable. Nor was the user profile. If this founder is distributed to the projects, we would like to have the profile sent along since it will explain the committee that was established for team maintenance.

In another thread, I noticed some were concerned about the safety of the password during the project updates. I suggest you use something similar to the method MIT uses to distribute PGP.

Project contacts BOINC requesting team info.
BOINC places that info into a randomly-named temporary directory and sends the directory name to the project
Project contacts BOINC via https to down load the info from that directory
BOINC removes the directory after a few minutes

Feel free to move this topic change anywhere you want.

And you never got the account key sent to you? I got the account key sent to me when I set up my team. Check email and spam filters. Otherwise use this link to retrieve it.

It would seem, the team was made correctly: TeAm AnandTech. Even though the teAm may be a typo. Or perhaps not, seeing how you typed it in your last post. ;-)

Thanks, I've retrieved the key, I think. I've never accessed that email account, that was being done by our man in Sweden. So, you're saying we need that key to maintain the profile or is this a one time validation?

Did you validate your email address?
Although, if the server says that the email address hasn't been found, it may well be that you never saved the changes.

What is the team name?

TeAm AnandTech

Yes, we validated that address. However, that was done by another, so I don't know if it was done before I did the initial set up. I know it had been done before the next day when I tried to change a few things. I was apparently still logged in because I was able to change some team info. However, it showed the account but none of the links for profile or preferences worked.

Thank you, Ageless, for hiding my stupidity.

I created a founder account and a team using tacommittee at gmail dot com. Since then I have been unable to log in. Error message says no account with that address. Do I have to do it over?

FWIW: I used https: during the original creation. Could this be a problem?

I have a minor eye-wash issue.

When you boot and BOINC Manager is loaded, the B-icon is present in the system tray in WinXp. However, it does not have a title, so it soon disappears.

I like to have it always showing. If it had a title, I could set my preferences once and forget it.
