1) Message boards : Documentation : BOINC advanced view page needs minor update (Message 40484)

The "Advanced view" information needs updating:
http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Advanced_view

The line:
Run CPU benchmarks: Run benchmark functions, which measure the speed of your processor. BOINC does this automatically, but you can repeat it whenever you want. The results are shown in the Messages tab.

is incorrect; as there is no messages tab anymore.
CPU benchmark results can be found instead via >Advanced>Event Log.

There might be similar references to the "messages" tab elsewhere.

Thanks
2) Message boards : BOINC client : WiiWare for the Nintendo Wii (Message 17652)

That article says that there was a version of the browser created in conjunction with Nintendo
This article gives the hardware specs, and it doesn't look to really be worth the while of projects to try and port a version of their programs for the WII.

As might have been expected, given the comparisons already made between Wii and PS3/xbox360 in the games arena.

I'm sure a lot of Wiis working together might achieve something, but I think dev time would be better spent getting a F@H BOINC equivalent or two for PS3... (although that's also mostly the responsibility of the projects to code for Cell, not easy from what people say).

Slightly offtopic, but related to the thread title:

I went to create a BOINC-wide team, and foolishly created my user account as the team account - I didn't quite realise it was a two-step process.

I was hoping to get my user name for the boinc-wide login changed, as I don't want to be the same as the team name, and I can't create another account as the email (which is the same as some previously created teams) is already in use (from my stuff-up).

The only contact I could find on the boinc-wide team page is David Baker - is this the right person for this sort of small stuff?

And to clarify:

For a boinc-wide team, I create a BOINC user account (here), then a team from that account?

And as long as the email and team name is the same as those I've already created, they'll all get merged, and new teams with the same details created at all the other projects?

Sorry if this is a bit basic - I've just stumbled across this feature and haven't read much about it yet, other than the page describing it.

Thanks!

trying to "co-host" or rather "link" projects, would be far too complicated to be worth it. how often does someone need to change their resouce shares anyway?
also you don't need to fiddle with xml files to change venues at all, it can be set per host, in the hosts area of "my account" (officially "view computers"), just view the host that you want to change, go to the bottom of the page, and change it there

I guess resource share is not changed often. If I change the venue though, I'm guessing I have to change it at all the projects that that computer is attached to... another case for central admin. However, I guess that the venue is also not changed often either.

Anyway, I should also point out that overall I think BOINC is a great idea and project, I'm just throwing in my ideas on what might make it better : )

Regarding the preferences issue, my gripe is that I can't adjust all my projects from the one page - I have to log in to SETI, CPDN, Predictor etc to adjust my ratios... surely there should be a central prefs page (either each projects co-hosts for everyone, I don't know) where you have your list of projects, and can do everything in just one page visit.
If you then wanted advanced prefs (disk space, or whatever) that were project specific, then you could go to another page for that project.
As is, while I understand the logic, it can be a bit cumbersome.
edit: Also, since the "venues" options are not easily user accessible at present, why not just ditch them and simplify the whole preferences form in the meantime? It's a great idea, but I at least have found it too annoying to administer. If you could set it up as a startup switch (-home, -work) or as an option in the manager, rather than mucking about with xml files that would be great...)

I also have this problem - can there be a function in the manager of "set host venue"? (maybe it is there, but I can't find it, and editing the xml doesn't always seem to work, as described...)
