2) Message boards : BOINC client : Remote control won't work (Message 18311) Posted 9 Jul 2008 by Kalessin Post: I just changed one of my crunchers from xp to vista 64bit and installed 6.2.6 on it. Now I don't get my other PC to remote controlling the vista64 with the command lines. Password is ok and remote_hosts as well. I don't receive errors on the controlling PC but the vista64 still won't follow its orders. Since I was not sure were to have the gui_auth and the remote_host I doubled them in the data and the program folder. Any suggestions?

(Message 10747) Posted 6 Jun 2007 by Kalessin Post: I'm assuming the directory that it's installed in is the equivalent of c:program filesboinc. Yes thats what it is. Reinstall BOINC to c:boinc. Vista has write issues with stuff in c:program files. That solved the problem. I believe there's a change button in the installer that will allow you to choose the directory. There actually was one! Let us know if that helps. I have BOINC installed to c:boinc on Vista and it's working fine. Yeah, all is running good now. thanks a lot Kathryn

(Message 10732) Posted 6 Jun 2007 by Kalessin Post: On one of my two new notebooks i have the same problem c2d T5500 1.66 ghz and Vista with two Gigs ram. First installation of boinc. Now i have tried three times and its still the same. After the installation all works fine.
