I think it would be good to build a repository also for OpenSuse. We have tested some versions compiled by a team member for OpenSuse 10.3 and development version 11.0 alpha/beta1.

I have made two .torrent-files to download via Bittorent.

On Windows Server 2008 RC was the same problem, progress bar did not work while running 6.1.14 as a single-user installation.

The WCG HPF2 applications always popped up their grafic windows, manualy closing caused an error message. I did not save logs late at night, sorry for that. Service installation works fine. But I should not work with an old operating System...

I did not create a Metalink for 5.10.45 yet, at this time there ist only one Einstein-Server (at Max-Planck-Institute, Potsdam) mirroring the new versions outside the US, Pennsylvania State and MIT stopped it. For better download times, especialy in Europe, we could set up some mirrors with fast connection to science networks like GEANT and DFN. I think not all the files have to be mirrored.

The number of clients is increasing, here ist a list

The plugin "DownThemAll!" for Mozilla Firefox is also available.

Here are two testing metalinks, the lastest Windows relase version of Boinc 5.10.30:

5.10.30 32-Bit

5.10.30 64-Bit

QMC work units are, by far, showing the greatest variance on this quad. Here are four work unit results that show you this variability:

Do you work often with large, memory-intensive software while running Boinc?
You can try projects with smaller applications, like Spinhenge or SHA-1 Collision Search.

Increasing the entropy by starting network aktivities may help to get more events at Boincmanager 5.10.40. I run µtorrent, uploading some Linux DVD-Images. I think it would be great if we can set up a Boinc testingserver with dummy workunits/applications on a local network.

@James: The QMC application was compiled using an optimizing Intel-Compiler, therefore it works fine on Intel Quadcore, even on Pentium 4 with Hyperthreading. It doesn't need much of the memory bandwidth. You can check the times for the QMC-WU.

You can also dowload and run CPU-Z http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php . Menue items "Memory" and "SPD" (all slots) would help. The manufacturers of Mainboard often provides information about chipset and bios, if you want to use the full 5 Gigabytes. 64-Bit Enterprise or Datacenter Editions of Windows 2008 are able to use up to 2048 Gigabyte RAM.

Is Boinc working 4 WU together, on every CPU one Einstein WU?
Did you measure the RAM-Performance? Dualchannel wouldn´t run with an uneven Number of Modules.

You should reset the projekt to get the newest application. A project which provides 64-Bit applications may be better in performance on a 64-Bit Operating System with 64-Bit Boincmanager.

I am trying a stress test with different configurations.

It would be easier if you can watch the clients in realtime on a system with a fast ethernet connection. Developers can get a free evaluation copy of Windows Server 2008 Release Candidate by downloading from http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/bb687945.aspx

On machines with 2GB RAM it works fine.

boinc.exe and boincmgr.exe were aktive in memory, but no World Community Grid Application. CPDN was stopped a few days ago by me. The "idle task" was about 3 hours, because of enabled Hyperthreading.

Are there known problems with Boincmanager or Client running on PC with Windows Server 2008 "Longhorn"?

Yesterday I have an error with 5.10.40. The manager and the projects were stopped, no project was visible in the manager, for about three hours the computer was not working at any WU. I never had similar problems with developing version 5.10.39 or lower.

"You used the wrong URL for this project, the correct URL is http://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/"

The list of URL in BOINC-Manager (tested with 5.9.10 / 5.10.0) has to be updated.

The Server is hosted at Queen Mary University, London UK since 25.05.2007.

Greetings
Chris
