Post:
why wasn't boinc 6.6.37 stabilized for linux yet? linux users still stuck with the 6.4.5 version while all other os have gone to 6.6.36.
when can we expect that stabilizing?
4) Message boards : BOINC client : swichd users now boinc wont connect under linux (Message 25691)

solved!, forgot to change the ownership of the content of /var/lib/boinc to the new user.
5) Message boards : BOINC client : swichd users now boinc wont connect under linux (Message 25666)

Post:
I had a problem with my old user profile when migrating from kde 3.5 to kde 4 so I've created and new user, copied the relevant (non config files) and did a kinda twisted change by using
usermod -l dagg daggold

then
usermod -l daggnew dagg

changing the dir name and then using
usermod -d dagg dagg

since then boinc won't log into the gui
any hints on how to fix this?

Wed Nov 19 07:58:40 2008|World Community Grid|Scheduler request failed: Failure when receiving data from the peer

since then I've got two newsletters from them but none mentioning possible server issues, a quick glance at the site and forums haven't reveled anything on the subject.

does anyone knows what's going on with this project?

the I installed boinc is no different from the way I did before I've never encountered this problem before, I know about file premissions, I didnt understood what you were talking about, I'm in the boinc group, in fact, that was one of the first things I've tried.
the folder's owner was boinc and group was root, I've changed it to user and group boinc, now from what you're saying, I should be able to run it without problems.

I'll try

I'm running gentoo 64 bit, I've installed boinc 6.2.19 (which worked without any problems before I reinstalled my computer) now, when the user and group under /etc/conf.d/boinc is set both to boinc, the manager won't auto connect to the localhost when I run it, I need to connect manually, but when I change the user settings to my user and the group to user or any other group in which my user exists, the manager wont even connect.

how can I solve this issue?
