Posted 1 day ago by Dr Who Fan Post: On one task, the estimated time of completion has already passed and yet it keeps getting earlier! I have seen same "feature" in Efmer's BOINC tasks monitoring program on occasion. I don't think BOINC can properly compute this type of issue. Maybe open a ticket in Git to have the developers look at it. |

(Message 113896)
Posted 5 days ago by Dr Who Fan Post: BOINC by default will only use the "P"-Performance Cores, of which your processor only has 6. Some of the limitations are also Operating System (Windows, Linux) and software (BOINC in this instance) dependent. I'm not a programmer/developer so I'm going to post some reading material below to help you understand the current limitations. See official CPU specs: Intel® Core™ i5 processor 14500 SPECS CPU Specifications Total Cores 14 # of Performance-cores 6 # of Efficient-cores 8 Total Threads 20 In layman's terms that is 6 real cores, 6 hyper thread cores & 8 Efficient-cores. Posted 6 days ago by Dr Who Fan Post: I wondered if it was the specific project that was broken but now I have seen it happen on different projects. I my self have not seen this problem on Windows or Linux. More than likely it is PROJECT SPECIFIC. Best to report it to Milkyway@home as an APPLICATION SPECIFIC BUG if you encounter it again. When reporting the bug to them, try to include as much information as possible. |

Posted 21 days ago by Dr Who Fan Post: WCG task availably is a hit or miss it seems right now. Yesterday and Tuesday they were having server issues causing problems creating new work along with the startup of a big contest called "The Computation Moonshot" described here: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/about_us/article.s?articleId=810. Check your preference to make sure that you have selected more than one sub project & CPU/GPU might help. * Last few days I only received CPU work for Mapping Cancer Markers (MCM)... I don't know about GPU work as I don't have a GPU. * It's always best to check the specific project forums (when available) first before posting here to see what others are saying. Could save you time going back and forth between multiple places to get an answer. |

Posted 25 days ago by Dr Who Fan Post: Einstein has work available. The type of work for Android: Binary Radio Pulsar Search (Arecibo,GBT) (BRP4) Log in to your account and from top menu click Preferences, (or follow link https://einsteinathome.org/account/prefs/project). Then make sure you have selected the correct venue (Preference set) from drop down menu (default, home, school, work) that your Android device is set to receive work from. If you have not changed it it should be under default. Then click on Project on top menu, scroll down to APPLICATIONS, check the box for what is in bold above, scroll down to end of page and click on save. Perform a project update on the Android device for Einstein. It should start to receive work for the project on the next time it asks for more work. |

Posted 20 Mar 2024 by Dr Who Fan Post: Based on forum posts at WCG is Having server issue causing a shortage of work. They are aware of it trying to get it working again. As you can see by this topic, it's a semi regular occurrence for them to have server problems. The tech team are currently working on fixing an issue with the create Work process, which is responsible for the shortage in WUs at this time. In attempting to fix this issue, the feeder went down temporarily yesterday. The tech team will provide an update about this issue soon. |
