No account was found under the project after logging in via BOINC Manager
(Message 113952)
Posted 16 hours ago by Dr Who Fan Post: Did you attach to WCG manually (using your email address & password) and not using SCIENCE UNITED'S ACCOUNT MANAGER? If you used the latter (SU) that would most likely explain why the account name is blank. Please exit BOINC, Wait about 30 second and Restart BOINC. Wait 30 second then open the EVENT LOG (Control -Shift-E), post the first 30 to 50 lines of the log in this forum topic. |

Anything and Everything to do with (WCG) World Community Grid
(Message 113950)
Posted 18 hours ago by Dr Who Fan Post: News from World Community Grid ARP restart update The ARP team is preparing to restart after the project was put on pause in December 2022. This article outlines the steps that we are taking in order to restart this project. Project: Africa Rainfall Project Published on: 25 Apr 2024 ... Fortunately, Amazon Web Services (AWS) agreed to host the data, and thus began the process of moving the data. Since the move is complete, the ARP team has been taking steps to make the data more broadly accessible through the AWS platform, but this work is still in the early stages. Currently, the focus is on finalizing the preparation of new work units and generating the data needed to restart ARP. |

Please check back in a few minutes. --++++-- Tom wrote: It'd be nice if there was a social media page for Rosetta, updated in the last 10 years, with a quick message to explain what's going on You are asking too much of the Bakerlab people.... They can't seem to update postings on the project website nor remove junk/spam messages either. |

problem with connecting to Boinc.bakerlab.org
(Message 113931)
Posted 5 days ago by Dr Who Fan Post: Rosetta website & project servers have been unreachable for over 1 1/2 days now. See https://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=10279&postid=113919 and several posts after that. Since this is a University hosting the project in Washington State USA, it probably won't be back up until sometime tomorrow (Monday). |

Posted 9 days ago by Dr Who Fan Post: On one task, the estimated time of completion has already passed and yet it keeps getting earlier! I have seen same "feature" in Efmer's BOINC tasks monitoring program on occasion. I don't think BOINC can properly compute this type of issue. Maybe open a ticket in Git to have the developers look at it. |

Boinc is using only 30 or 40 % of new processor capacity ...? Can you help me ...?
(Message 113896)
Posted 12 days ago by Dr Who Fan Post: BOINC by default will only use the "P"-Performance Cores, of which your processor only has 6. Some of the limitations are also Operating System (Windows, Linux) and software (BOINC in this instance) dependent. I'm not a programmer/developer so I'm going to post some reading material below to help you understand the current limitations. See official CPU specs: Intel® Core™ i5 processor 14500 SPECS CPU Specifications Total Cores 14 # of Performance-cores 6 # of Efficient-cores 8 Total Threads 20 In layman's terms that is 6 real cores, 6 hyper thread cores & 8 Efficient-cores. (Message 113883)
Posted 14 days ago by Dr Who Fan Post: I wondered if it was the specific project that was broken but now I have seen it happen on different projects. I my self have not seen this problem on Windows or Linux. More than likely it is PROJECT SPECIFIC. Best to report it to Milkyway@home as an APPLICATION SPECIFIC BUG if you encounter it again. When reporting the bug to them, try to include as much information as possible. |
