Yes. I believe it's 1 hour.

Taking a break from cleaning. Tomorrow is our Super Bowl party. Pretty soon I'll start making some of the food so there's less to do tomorrow.

Hello,

Upon launching the installer on my MacBook 4,1 running 10.6.8, the installer crashes with the following error in console:
Job appears to have crashed: Bus error

Any similar behavior under OS X? BOINC 7.0.65 installs just fine.

The same download runs fine on an iMac 11,1 running 10.8.5. Could be something wrong with the other host, although I never had any issues.

Downloaded 7.2.39 and it still crashes, so it's not an issue with 7.2.42.

Thanks for the report. I've forwarded it to our Mac developer.

Give him a week or two. He's totally redesigned the site and just needs the time to push it live.

He sent me a preview and it looks awesome.

Directly from Martin's fingers to my inbox :)

I have an approximate schedule for the move of qmc@home from Münster to Bonn now. There will be no new work units after the ones currently left on the server. Roughly at the beginning of October we will shut down the server in Münster. We will then make a break until the end of October before we officially start again with the new server. This is because I would like to use the opportunity to clean up all the stuff left over from several years and run some tests on the new server. Unfortunately all users have to change to a new project URL at some point, but I hope to be able to keep the old one working for some time. The new project URL is qmcathome.org (to avoid similar problems in the future), but there's no content on that page yet.

I've never tried to copy over the Berkeley binaries to where the package maintainers put them. If you're not feeling the need to upgrade to each alpha build, I'd let apt-get and the package maintainers deal with it.

If you're interested in some of the features you can get with the apt-get install and *aren't* afraid of the command line, I can point you toward install instructions that use the Berkeley binaries.

I don't have a Fedora VM or machine handy to test on. Can you post to the Fedora forums as it really isn't a BOINC issue, but rather with the Fedora package.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Can you try to uninstall and reinstall BOINC through yum.

I'll admit I'm grasping at straws because I've never installed from repos.

Well, since I flunked Divination at Hogwarts, you'll have to give us more to go on than one sentence.

What problems?
What OS?
What version of BOINC?
Are you using a GPU?

7 isn't released to public, so likely you do have the latests. 7 is for the alpha testers.

I know for a fact Rom builds using Ubuntu.

As for keeping the repos up to date, that's up to the Ubuntu package manager.

Best to ask about the seti WUs on their boards.

Did you ever get WCG WUs? It doesn't use port 80 (and I'm blanking on what port SSL is on) and there should be a certificate too. Again, a question possibly better answered on the WCG boards.

It is a long standing problem. I vaguely remember something about differences in whether the mouse and keyboard were PS/2 or USB.

Sorry I can't be more helpful, but I can confirm the bug.

In a way, I feel your pain. I had some difficulties because I didn't read the FAQs.

I will also say that this new project isn't for the feint of heart. It does require dropping down to a terminal to do specific things.

Start by downloading the dmg for Virtual Box. Make sure you have version 4.1.
At that point it's just like installing any other piece of software. Double click on the VB icon in the installer and let it do its thing. If you're running an an admin account, then it should do it thing. If not, it will prompt you for administrator name and password.

That's the last thing you'll ever have to do with Virtual Box (aside from updating if needed) unless you want to run Windows or Linux or some other OS in your virtual machine.

Now install BOINC. Download the latest stable version. Install the same way you did Virtual Box.

Right now (AFAIK) there is no work and signups for Test4Home are closed.

But... You'll eventually need to download the following script http://boinc01.cern.ch/sites/default/files/EnablingVirtualBox.zip. First double click to extract it then follow the instructions in the FAQ. Post back if you have trouble with the sudo part. I'll try to help, but it was a struggle for me.[/url]
