relocate default disk location on Raspberry Pi

Posted 3 Aug 2019 by mitchh Post: Thanks Mark! It took a while to get to reset everything, but I followed the instructions to mount /root on the SSD and it is working great now. I didn't have much on this pi, so it was easier to reload everything and start over. Mounting the SSD to /root solves many other issues I wanted a solution to cover as well! So thanks! |

Questions and problems :
relocate default disk location on Raspberry Pi
(Message 92309)
Posted 28 Jul 2019 by mitchh Post: Hi, I tried to relocate the /var/lib/boinc and /var/lib/boinc-client directories by a soft link to the mount point of my SSD as opposed to the smaller / slower sd card on my new Pi 4. (It is not possible to boot from the SSD at this time to my knowledge.) So I have created links and moved the files, but I must have done something wrong, because it will not start. I am running the latest version of Boinc as of 2 days ago when I downloaded it. I'm running on a Pi 4 with 4GB mem. I'm not sure I redirected things correctly. I pointed /var/lib/boinc to /mnt/data/boinc-client and also pointed /var/lib/boinc-client to /mnt/data/boinc-client. I see that boinc-client seems to be also inside itself on the SSD. I couldn't find documentation that indicated how to redirect the default disk location, so I winged it and caused the problem. Does anyone know what I should do to correctly redirect the default disk location to /mnt/data? Thanks, mitchh |
