Run BOINC on non-internet PC?

Posted 10 Dec 2006 by RTP Post: an internet connection would make things a lot easier, but if you've got a usb drive to move the files on then it can be done. Its probably not wise running directly from the USB drive though as they have a limited write capacity. Thanks very much Danny.. I do have a USB drive...so it looks like it wouldn't be tooooo bad if I only run a "different" project on the non-connected PC..... Well I ended up getting a router...re-configed the 2nd PC.. and I'm "On Line" .. :) ..running multiple projects! Thanks again! |

Run BOINC on non-internet PC?
(Message 6867)
Posted 8 Dec 2006 by RTP Post: I would like to run BOINC on another PC that is Not connected to the Internet or a LAN. Can I copy the BOINC directory to this PC, run BOINC, and when the data is complete, copy the data file to the registered PC for updloading the completed results? So far, I have copied the BOINC directory to a 2nd PC and it is running ok. It also seems to have correctly started running from where the host PC left off.. I don't know if the results will be valid and if I can upload the results from the internet PC. Thanks for your Help! |
