Thanks Claggs for the notifier.

SIMAP is the only BOINC based project in the moment, which supports TRU64.

I have tried to port SETI to TRU64, but there was some trubles with the math accuracy of the results in the SETI 5.x and Astropulse results.

I will point Thomas to the broken link.

Yes, this is exactly the problem. A lot of projects has closed source and would not gave them out. OK, they have there reasons...

But, a lot of projects did not see the need to port to the not so (for private persons common used) Unix platforms. About 5 % throughtput is done at SETI and SIMAP from non x86/x64 PCs with Windows or Linux or MacOS.
So there is also some good amount of work to port to other platforms. And a lot of projects did not have this resources...

If you search for some BOINC applications alternative platform support on x86/x75 on *BSD, you can also use the Linux Compat. I have written a short howto : http://www.dotsch.de/boinc/BSD_Linux-Compat_howto.html

For what OS+platforms do you excatly search binaries ?
At which projects are you interested ?

Thanks Nicolas. I was stuck in my narrow-minded thinking and of course you're correct. After some deeper digging, xlocale seems to be Linuxism and since I'm no programmer I don't really stand a chance porting this to FreeBSD. Version 6.4.5 (which is available for FreeBSD) doesn't seem to have this particular code segment in rpc_gui_client.h and simply removing it generates other errors so I'll stick to 6.4.5 until someone brighter than me figures out how to port this. :-)
/Morgan

Have a look at my homepage http://www.dotsch.de/boinc, there are binaries (6.2.18) for FreeBSD avaialble.

Hm, with the non x86/x64 you have not much projects to choose. SIMAP and SETI has the most advanced plafrom support. But, depends also which OS you are running on the systems...

At the BOINC third party site are the download locations for BOINC Clients and SETI@home applications listed : http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_other.php.
And also at the SIMAP download page : http://boinc.bio.wzw.tum.de/boincsimap/appdownloads.php

At the unoffical BOINC Wiki are also some lists about the platform support and hardware recommendations : http://www.boinc-wiki.info/Catalog_of_BOINC_Powered_Projects and http://www.boinc-wiki.info/The_Current_List_of_Alpha_Test/Beta_Test_Projects

Dotsch has or keeps track of ports for various other platforms. See this thread for links and info.

I am still working on the BOINC and BOINC projects ports for the most Unixes. But, I have absolutly now knowledge from Windows. So I did not think that I am able to port the BOINC client to IA64 Windows.

Btw. what's about to use HPUX or Linux on the IA64 systems ? - There is a BOINC client and SETI@home and SIMAP applications available for these platforms.

no. I cant get any datas from SETI.

but I dont know how to create the contents in the app_info.xml.

//sigh

The app_info.xml is included in the SETI package. Could you please post the messages from the start of the BOINC client.

HPUX, Linux, Windows 2003 Itanium Edition, OpenVMS are officaly supported by HP on the HP IA64. So far I know support the other vendors Linux and Windows IA64 edition on there systems. - For Windows you will need a special IA64 edition. - Vista would not work, because it's only for the x86/x64 architecture.
FreeBSD and NetBSD has also ports for IA64.

BOINC client and SETI@home application binaries are available for HPUX and Linux IA64 on my homepage http://www.dotsch.de/boinc and http://www.dotsch.de/seti.
SIMAP also supports HPUX and Linux on IA64. Binaries are avialable on the SIMAP homepage http://boinc.bio.wzw.tum.de/boincsimap/appdownloads.php
So far I know are HPUX and Linux the only platforms for which a BOINC client and science applications are avaialable.

3x ur reply. I used ur AIX BOINC client binaries,The file name is boinc6219_10.aix53.tar.gz. I installed this package after readed the quick install guide. Just like ur said, I set the LIBPATH like this:
LIBPATH=/opt/boinc/lib:$PWD/lib:$LIBPATH
export LIBPATH

My AIX version is 6100-01.
maybe I will download ur new version package?

I will look for the root cause for your problem...
Am I right, that the BOINC client is instlled in /opt/boinc and the libs are in /opt/boinc/lib ?

Does this problem also occur with the old BOINC client 5.10.17 for AIX ?

I guess you are still using my AIX BOINC client binaries...

Do you have set the LIBPATH right (LIBPATH=/opt/boinc/lib:$PWD/lib:$LIBPATH ; export LIBPATH) before you start the BOINC client ?

Do you use my BOINC client port version 5.10.17 or 6.2.18 ?
What AIX version do you use ?

I'm gonna buy that machine to connect it to the BOINC project. When I have it will contact you for help. It can take a 9 months to have it installed just my question was about the benefits. Hope it will help. Currently the machine has 8 CPU and run sw to predict wheather forecasts and count models of wheather. It use 2 linux machines (2-4x intel XEON) with standard linux for compiling sources, because it's more effective then compilator on SX itself. When it's compiled, sent to the SX as a batch and start. (it's amazingly fast).

Wow. Do you have some links to the specs of the system?

Let's hope, that we can get BOINC and SETI running. - But I can not promise you anything...

I have several 32-bit x86 machines and a couple of G4 Power Macs (I realize the power macs have fewer projects available and may be harder to set up).

In the moment, there are three projects (SETI, SIMAP and Superlink) which supports Linux on PPC. MacOS PPC would be supported by a lot of more projects (about 15 to 20 projects). So MacOS could be eventualy a alternative to Linux on PPC. The most projects support MacOS 10.3.9 or 10.4.x.
