1) Message boards : BOINC Manager : BOINC is currently suspended..... (Message 2650)

I have just downloaded BOINC, and according to the BOINC manager I have attached to seti@home and einstein@home. However, I'm not getting any work, the status under the Project tab says "scheduler request pending", and the ballon that appears when I hover over the BOINC icon in taskbar says BOINC is currently suspended. I've checked through several FAQs and message boards, tried re-attaching and updating both projects, checked and double-checked my firewall, made sure that "suspend" hasn't be checked under the commands menu in the BOINC client in the project tab, and now I've run out of ideas. Can someone point me in the right direction?

In your General Preferences, do you have your "Do work while computer is in use?" pref set to "No"? If so, try changing to "Yes". Read this. If you do change the preference to "Yes", be sure to "Update" Einstein or Seti (whichever project's prefs you change) so the change will be loaded into BOINC.

I agree with this idea. Users should have to make an affirmative decisions on issues such as this - and not be defaulted into them.

Also, I think the Installer also desparately needs some internal error checking. It seems pretty easy to get a "successfully installed" message, yet haved problems when BOINC is started up. I had a problem when I installed 5.2.7 - some .dll file didn't install properly but, as far as the installer was concerned, all went well. I've seen numerous similar reports, too - including one from a user whose had installed 5.2.? but, as it turned out, still had the v4.45 client in his BOINC folder.

I posted this on the EAH "Wish List" Board and was encouraged to post it here as well:

Please consider adding a direct link to the BOINC Wiki for future versions of BOINC Manager (perhaps under the "Help" menu).
4) Message boards : BOINC Manager : Screensavers problem (Message 420)

I too am having a screen saver problem. I'm running Boinc Manger 4.45 with the Einstein, LHC and SETI projects. For all three projects the screen saver is blank when it triggers after a period of inactivity. If I select Preview from the screensaver dialog window, then the graphics work correctly. Also, the graphics will show correctly when I select Show graphics in the BOINC Manager.

My system is a Dell Diemnsion 9100 running a dual core Pentium processor at 2.8 GHz. I have a Radeon X600 Graphics card with 256MB HyperMemory.

In the Screen Saver config dialog, the "Go to blank screen" is unchecked and the "Minutes until blank" is set to 30.

Is there some other setting that I'm missing? Any ideas?

I forgot to mention that I have same situation, in preview the screensaver is visible, same with "Show graphics" options.

The problem could be at least partly attributable to Einstein. The current "official" Einstein Windows APP (4.79) is a little behind BOINC 4.45; and, there is a graphics known bug related to running 4.79 with 4.45. A fix is in the Einstein Windows Beta App. You might want to check it out. The link is under More Information on the E@H hoe page.
