1) Message boards : Questions and problems : BOINC cannot communicate (Message 31310)

I have also been having a similar problem. Windows XP & IE8. The Boinc message says to go to advanced, connections. What then? That window only says "America Online" which has been disconnected for years. In the control panel in Network connections, it says "connected to local connection area 3" Fine. So what do I do with that info. I see nowhere to type it in Boinc's advanced, connections window.

Like I said, it's been up there awhile--and guess what, it's still offensive. If it's such an old post why is it still there? Evidently you folks already know about it--all the more reason I should leave.

Yes, please state which project this is on. We can ask BOINC's main developer to email the project's administrators to get them to remove such posts.

Oh, hold on, you mean Tanpaku?
(that was an old thread you posted in).

I have just detached from a BOINC project whose message boards have posts advocating murder, assassination, and beheading--and these posts have been up for awhile. I am very close to pulling all three of my computers out of BOINC all together because of this advocation of violence and hate in direct contradiction of posted forum rules. I am a social security recipient and in that long life, I think that this is the first time that I have complained about an abuse of the Right to Free Speech, but to paraphrase the Supreme Court; Free Speech does not include yelling "FIRE!" in a crowded theatre.

5) Message boards : Web interfaces : Problems with Attach to Project (Message 5629)

Yesterday I downloaded my first Boinc and attached to Rosetta and Spinhenge. When I tried to attach to Predictor, the "new user" choice button dimmed and it told me that it needed my username and password. Of course I didn't have one yet. I tried to use the ones that I used for Rosetta and Spinhenge and it said those were not valid.
I downloaded Boinc to my wife's computer; different computer, same internet broadband (cable) connection and tried to attach her to the Malaria project and the same thing happened, so her computer is idle at this time. Any suggestions?
