The Trojan was included in a Google Adsense Ad (don't know why Google allows JavaScript in ads :( ). I blocked the publisher and the ad should not show again.

Until they start using another idendity...

BTW: I had similar experiences on other sites, doesn't seem to be restricted to just BOINCstats.

Bam.boincstats.com; Can any project admin or common user login and administrate or have any input to the information or running of the website? Answer; No

I have really thought about this. One problem I had with is, how do I determine who is the proper admin of a project, and, like David said it, how to find out if they are being legit.

Another thing: BAM! and BOINCstats are well known in the BOINC world, yet out of all projects currently available on my site maybe 3 or 4 asked to be included. All others never contacted me and I found them because somebody (other than someone involved in the project) mentioned the project or by some nasty browsing through my apache referral logs. This makes me think: do these project admins actually want to be involved with anything other than their own little part of the BOINC universe?

Neither BAM! nor GR has done much towards allowing user-supplied content, or defining volunteer roles as you describe.

Not exactly sure what you mean here but several times I invited all projects (by means of the mailing lists) to send me documentation or promotional material for use in combination with BAM!. Response was close to nothing.

I'm all for adding this kind of content to BOINCstats/BAM!. I'd also welcome general info, FAQ's etc for BOINC in general or project specific. I'm not even shy of adding information about statistics sites or GR. Because BOINCstats/BAM! is multilingual the information can be available in several languages (depending on the translators willing to do the work of course).

I agree that a "one-stop shop" web site, where people can see and discuss all BOINC projects, is desirable. That's the role I intended for account managers (BAM! and GridRepublic). Of these two, I think GridRepublic is more likely to fulfill this role for average volunteers.

I agree that BAM! may be too difficult for the starting user. It's intended to do as much as possible which makes in complicated. Another problem may be that I'm incapable of placing myself in the average user, so ideas to make BAM! accessible are very welcome.

Will comment some more when the coffee starts doing it's work.
5) Message boards : Web interfaces : Team autofounding on new projects is a bug, not a feature (Message 12740)

Help me understand. Lets say that for team X, person A is the founder at project 1, and person B is the founder at project 2. Then person C goes to http://boinc.berkeley.edu/teams/, and creates team X, with himself as the founder. Will person C then be automatically made the founder at projects 1 and 2?

No, this only work with (new) projects where the admin manually runs a script that imports the teams.

Edit: Follow-up questions: A new project (3) is created. It is an invitation-only project, allowing only some people to join. Person C is not allowed to join. How is C supposed to manage the team at project 3? What is to prevent some other person at project 3, from initiating transfer, waiting 2 months, and taking over the team?

This I don't know.

Speaking for myself I really want this feature to succeed. There are a number of projects where I'm not the founder of my team and it remains to be seen if I ever get foundership of these teams.

That's not a tech problem, right? It sounds like a political problem. If the founder is gone, just use the initiate transfer protocol. Or am I missing something?

The problem is that somebody who got an account before me at those projects created the team, and didn't transfer the founder to me. When this feature works, I (the "true" founder) will be the founder of "my" team in all projects, the way it should be.

Now how cool would it be for a almost non-existent team to claim "SETI.Germany" or "SETI.USA" in a new project. Just wait for the members to join, get a shitload of credit, then change to name to the almost non-existent team name.

That's what this feature should prevent.

Almost forgot: if you don't want to, don't use this feature, then what is the harm that others do?

As with this feature, anyone can create a team with the name of one of the big teams in new projects, and later change it to team NeverHeardOfBeforeAndGoneAreYourCredits.

So, when choosing out of two bad options, I choose this new feature.

BTW: I did put BOINCstats on the list myself.

I do not think this is a useless feature.

But I do think that along with creating the founder account, the email address of the founders account should be copied along with a random password generated passwd_hash.

This password with a link to the projects account home page can be send to the email address.

Also possible is copying passwd_hash as well, which makes it possible for the founder to log in with the password he entered on the teams page. That way a new project doesn't have to reveal itself prematurely to all team founders.

I think the problem is in the way CPDN (or other projects) is (are) exporting stats.

In the XML file are these lines:
<team>
 <id>5624</id>
 <type>6</type>
 <name>Universit&#239;&#191;&#189;t der Bundeswehr M&#239;&#191;&#189;nchen</name>
....

Notice the HTML codes. When you put the team name in a html file and view it in a browser it translates to the wrong characters seen on BOINCstats.

The wrong characters are also seen on other stats sites.

It was a problem with the synchronization between the two servers. This is now solved, and you should be able to log in.

What he means is that in the 'old' days only projects that went public and out of alpha/beta got a headline in the BOINC (RSS) news. (I can even remember someone high up in the ranks giving this reason when asked to put the news about a project on BOINC). Now every new project seems to get attention as soon as the emerge.

I would like to have an auto-update function, the ability to sort items in a list, a "combobox" in the attach dialog to choose the project easily whitout entering the project url, and an optional splash screen.

This is very much possible by using BAM! bam.boincstats.com.
