23) Message boards : Questions and problems : GPU computing suspended Computer still downloads GPU tasks
Message 112720 Posted 21 Sep 2023 by Harri Liljeroos |
I don't run Windows, but if I remember correctly, the Suspend activity for gpu work . . . . or cpu work for that matter extends for only 60 minutes. Then reverts to active again. Snooze stops crunching only for 60 minutes. If you change crunching to not follow preferences but to suspend GPU/CPU crunching that suspension is until you change it back to based on preferences or always. Suspending any task for a project disables the work requests for that project. You don't need to set NNT for that project. |

Message 111325 Posted 17 Mar 2023 by Harri Liljeroos |
There are also GSM desktop phones. They look like old fixed phones but are operating like a mobile phone. They have an antenna and a battery so they can be operated also during power cuts. Normally you keep them connected to the power line. |
33) Message boards : Questions and problems : How to receive tasks that need less than 4 hours to run...
Message 110970 Posted 27 Jan 2023 by Harri Liljeroos |
First you have to identify which subproject (application) of Einstein tasks the ones that you want to do belong to. Then at Einstein web site you go to your project preferences and select only that application. See what preference set (General/Home/Work/School) your computer is set to and modify the preference settings to accept only that application. APPLICATIONS Run only the selected applications [] Binary Radio Pulsar Search (Arecibo) [] Binary Radio Pulsar Search (Arecibo, fast) [] Binary Radio Pulsar Search (MeerKAT) [] Gamma-ray pulsar search #5 [] Gamma-ray pulsar binary search #1 (GPU) [] Gravitational Wave search O3 All-Sky [] Multi-Directional Gravitational Wave search on O3 (GPU) [] Multi-Directional Gravitational Wave search on O3 (CPU) Select this setting also to NO: Allow non-preferred apps: YES | NO If no work for selected applications are available, accept tasks from other applications? |
34) Message boards : Questions and problems : BOINC disregards limitations and running 100% CPU when computer is in use
Message 110894 Posted 8 Jan 2023 by Harri Liljeroos |
Check the setting on Boinc manager how you are allowing the GPU to run. The GPU has settings to run: Always, Based on preferences or Never. You should use Based on preferences. |

40) Message boards : GPUs : Windows 10 - NVIDIA 3070 GPU - Not Found
Message 110343 Posted 6 Nov 2022 by Harri Liljeroos |
1/6/2022 12:49:22 PM | | cc_config.xml not found - using defaults The bold part tells you what is wrong. In Windows, GPU is not available for crunching when Boinc is installed as service. You have to install it under a user account. This is due to how Windows handles drivers. The drivers are available only when a user is logged in. And Boinc has to be started only after drivers have been loaded for it to see the GPU and use it. So re-install Boinc to run under user account. |
