I have not yet done the creators update to my Win 10, but the last Nvidia update, 382.05, killed my 2 GPU's for processing GPU tasks. Un-instlaling back to 381.65 fixed my issues.

Yes it did. And Nvidia just relased some new drivers as well. ANd the Nvidia app did not notice this.

Always something>>>

Now after updating Win 10 to the Anniversary edition, and rebooting I now see this:
8/19/2016 8:04:18 AM | | CUDA: NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce GTX 750 Ti (driver version 368.81, CUDA version 8.0, compute capability 5.0, 2048MB, 1689MB available, 1606 GFLOPS peak)
8/19/2016 8:04:18 AM | | App version needs OpenCL but GPU doesn't support it
8/19/2016 8:04:18 AM | Milkyway@Home | Application uses missing NVIDIA GPU
8/19/2016 8:04:18 AM | | App version needs OpenCL but GPU doesn't support it

But I have a currently running GPU task for Seti@home that is active on a GPU process, and other processes that are saying GPU missing with time already used. But for some new tasks I See "Ready to start" and GPU info and some that show GPU missing & ready to start.

7.6.33 and latest Nvidia Firmeware.

Update: I updated Nvidia drivers 2 times and am now in 368.81 and 7.6.22 was doing GPU work fine.

I then updated BOINC to 7.6.33 dev version and still have GPU's working.

I still see a lot of errors on MilkyWay and Seti Beta, but it is consistant with what was going on before.

Regressing both BOINC to 7.6.22 and NVidia to 368.22 has enabled the GPU functionality again.

I just upgraded from BOINC 7.6.22 to 7.6.33 last week, and yesterday updated my NVidia driver to 368.39 and now Bionic says that their are no usable GPU's found.

I will back grade the client as my next test to 7.6.22 and if that doesn't help I will back grade NVidia.

I used the Display Driver Uninstaller and it removed all display drivers.
I reloaded 361 for Nvidia and now BOINC shows 2 GPU's active.

I upgraded to 364 because it is the latest and it works too.

I am now getting this error.

4/9/2016 6:49:44 PM | | GPU detection failed. error code -1073741819

I have tried to set this in cc_config:
<use_all_gpus>1</use_all_gpus>

I have used 0 and 1 and made sure that all services for BOINC were not running before I restarted the Application.

I have 2 Nvidea GPU's and they did get an update 364 last week, but this error started on this Friday.

did you mean the drop down list in Activity and the 3 choices of Run Always for CPU, Use GPU Always for GPU & Network activity always?

If when BOINC launches and it doesn't find a GPU it will not show the option.

At the start of your BOINC event log, what do you see? I see this:

This explains why my PC is only using 1 GPU. That is what I am trying to work out.

I had the same problem as you as I was working out what driver was going to work with my 2 different GPU's until a windows 10 update fixed that discrepancy. Now I need to work out how to get BOINC set up to use both.

I have a similar issue, but my twist is that only one of my GPU's will run work. They are not SLI compatible, but now under the latest NVidia drivers and windows 10 updates they both launch correctly in Windows, but as you see only one is active in BOINC. How do I fix that?

I have just updated to 7-6-18 and this issue seems to have stopped.
I was Win7 pro x64. Now I am Win 10 pro x64 and the issue still happened when on BOINC 7.6.9.

Ageless, thanks for pushing the peanut up the hill.

Hi Ageless, good to see you still play in this game.

I do not reorder the columns. I do change the displayed list to show the highest percentage completed ( mostly), but I have done this since the option was available back in the early days of BOINC 6.x.x. I have not hid any columns.
I will add that I now have Ralph@home running as well as SRBase, and if I select any WU other than the top of that particular program, it jumps to the top most listed of that program in the list.
It does not mater what column I use to sort the WU's, and it doesn't matter if the WU is in running or ready to start or waiting or if the project is suspended.

This has been happening in the last couple of 7. builds. When you are on the TASK tab and select a task, on my PC the focus resets very quickly to the 1st task in the list. This makes it very hard to select the commands on the left panel. I was trying to suspend a few items w/o suspend the whole project and it took a couple of minutes to select the task, and then the Suspend button in time. Weird thing is it does not do that for all projects. I saw it in Universe@home and SRBase so far.
Does not seem to affect WUProp@Home or Quake-Catcher Network.

Is anyone else seeing this?

No runaway processes. When paused the CPU goes down below 5 % and the GPU thermals drop significantly. But I still have to close the program to stop the video/audio choppiness.

Has anyone else been having issues when playing audio or video files on Windows 7 x64 using any browser or program while BOINC 7.x.x is open?
It does not matter much if you suspend the program and it release the CPU and GPU tasks. I have to close the program completely and make sure that no processes related to it are running, and then audio and video play cleanly and all the programs are fine.

Message 41079

The problem I see with using a VM is that you have to allocate resources to them before they are launched. It runs as if on a different computer. Most of my hardware does not have the capacity to allocate away enough resources and still have enough for the core OS.
It is fine if the PC harware is a multi-core CPU with 4-6-8 GB of RAM and .5 TB Hdd's... But for us poor blokes using strapped together hardware salvaged from the PC's others have abandoned, it is probably not going to work.

I understand that LINUX is free, and has gotten a lot easier to install and manage ( like windows ), but we are not all science geeks, PC geeks, Nerds extrordinare....I like to install BOINC, Add the projects that the hardware can support and leave it alone.

My 2.3 cents ( adjusted for inflation and the drop in the value of the almighty dollar )

Replying to my own post.

I had another Rectilinear WU cause the same thing.. Not staying connected. I deleted the upload files. Forced an abort of the uploades and then reported the WU manually. The SW continued to crunch while the system said that it couldn't connect to the client.

My laptop just started doing this on the morning PST of the 28th. On Sunday evening it was working fine. I have looked at the files in ALL Users for this and nothing seems out of the ordinary. I only show 3 slots open. I am running 6.6.38 on this.

I did notice on one of my desktops on Sunday that Hydrogen had downlowded about 50 WU's and it had gotten thru about half of them when I looked, but it didnt affect the clinet SW. I am running 6.10.? on the desktop.

I am going to delete the Hydrogen manually from the list and see what happens.
ANSWER: Nothing

But as I tried to force a connect to the computer, I would get a few seconds on each tab selected. I hade a bunch of Rectiliner Crossing that were in upload pending. most all of these file in the BONIC folder were of 0 size. I deleded these and then on my next forced connection the SW stayed connected. I aborted the uploads. This made the WU show as ready to report. I then could force the report of that WU.. and it granted credit
