1) Message boards : Web interfaces : Web rpc lookup_account.php problem (Message 9666)

Nicolas,

Thank for your comments.

Both email addr and password are correct case. I have tried MD5(email_addr + passsword), md5(password + email_addr) and md5(password). In each case I get the same -206 Invalid password. This is the same for aall the project URL's I have tried so far.

If I issue: http://project_URL/lookup_account.php?mail_addr=email_addr
I receive:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1" ?>
- <account_out>
<success />
</account_out>

so I am assuming my problem is in the md5 hash.

I ran the tests in RFC 1321 A.5 Test suite and noticed my md5 hash routine output was all uppercase whereas RFC 1321 specifies lowercase chars. After amending the routine to output lower case I received an authenticator.

Success! Thank you for your patience,

Brian

I am having a problem using the web rpc lookup_account.php and seek someone who may be able to point me in the right direction or to a better place to post my question.

http://boinc.berkeley.edu/web_rpc.php states:

Look up account
URL project_url/lookup_account.php
input email_addr: email address
[ passwd_hash ]: the MD5 hash of the concatenation of the user's password and the email address.

I issue:

project_url/lookup_account.php?email_addr=Email.Addr&passwd_hash=0123456789ABCDEF0123456789ABCDEF
(on one line with no spaces)

where:

Email.Addr is the email address of the registered user
0123456789ABCDEF0123456789ABCDEF is the 32 char MD5 hash of Concat User_Password + Email_Addr

and receive the response: -206 Invalid Password

The email address and password are correct and the MD5 hash routine has been tested with a known string.
"test" "098f6bcd4621d373cade4e832627b4f6"

Please advise if can see where I am going wrong.
3) Message boards : BOINC Manager : Skin - Project Image drop down menu problem (Message 8093)

I am creating a Skin for BM and have hit a quirk I need help to explain and/or circumvent.

The Project Area Image drop down menu shows as black on black. On mouseover, bars show as white on blue then revert to black on black.

How can I influence this behavior in the skin.xml file?

I did contemplate this option but I would loose the registry data and therefore the installation on c: if I rebuilt it.

I don't mind reinstalling BOINC but loosing all those part processed wu'S IS A PAIN FOR ME (LOST CREDIT) and I'm sure it doesn't help server processes.

Brian

I am running BOINC on a PC which is a test machine prone to failures and rebuilds. Data files I wish to keep on this PC are on a disk that is not the system disk.

Can I modify the BOINC installation to store and access data on a disk other than the disk where boinc is installed?

If so, How do I do it?

8) Message boards : BOINC Manager : BM 5.2.6 Problems (Message 785)

Post:
Just installed 5.2.6 following a hard disk failure ...
so must reattach to projects ...

BM tells me the SZTAKI URL
http://szdg.lpds.sztaki.hu/szdg/
"... is not that of a BOINC based project"

PrimeGrid is rejecting both Password and Account Key as invalid!

Can anyone shed light on these 'problems'
9) Message boards : BOINC Manager : WU's not running! (Message 307)

I have upgraded to BOINC 4.45 but still have the same problem.
I have installed BOINC View. Nice program!
I havn't seen any error messages but have been experimenting.

If I suspend the projects WU's that have progress > 0% then those that were 'stuck' run! The suspended WU's can then be resumed!

Is there a routine in BOINC mgr that restricts either ...
... the number of projects a machine can run?
... the number of WU's a machine can run?

Is BOINC mgr 'intelligent' enough to recognise impending deadlines ...
... and weight wu's for more processing?
... 'hold' WU's with long deadlines?

Perhaps deadlines can be relaxed to cope with users running multiple projects especially as more worthwhile projects come online.

Brian

Windows 2000 Pro SP4
BOINC Manager 4.25

I have a number of projects installed.

Climate is running well
SETI is running (when it can get WU's!)
Protein is running well

LHC, Einstein are sitting doing nothing!
BOINC Mgr shows WU's are Status 'Ready to run'
but CPU Time is '---' and progress is '0.00%'
over a number of days.

I have tried everything I can think of ...
... including detaching and reattaching to project ...
but the WU's just sit there.

Can anyone explain this and/or make suggestions ...
... to get them going again?

Regards,

Brian
