Hovering, while easy, still requires "doing something." A better solution (at least to me) is to have the actual icon change. Symantec does this with their Anti-Virus and Firewall products so it is obvious that they are suspended.

Along with the snooze and/or suspend option, it would be helpful if the tray icon (in Windows) indicated that it was in those modes so it isn't accidentally left that way.

It does. Suspend BOINC and hover your mouse over the icon. In windows at least the big yellow box will come up saying what BOINC is doing.

Yup, that fixed it - thanks. I did a repair install of 5.2.13 and then the 5.4.9 install went right through.

There seems to be a bad WindowsXP boinc.msi file. I downloaded the 5.4.9 installation package and about 80% through the validation of the install package step it fails, reporting that it cannot find a valid boinc.msi. Even when I browse to the directory with the file (which it sees) it will not accept it as valid.

Any ideas?
