| 1) Message boards : Questions and problems : BOINC Errors after 8.2.4 w/ Solution
Message 116497 Posted 28 Jul 2025 by HailThyself |
Hello, After updating, I had to reinstall the application in order to avoid the following issues, and I think I found a workaround: BOINC no longer showing in start menu, appears that start menu directory is no longer created post install (ran as admin) Same issue now occurring with older versions, such as 8.0.2 and 8.0.4 (using 8.2.4 at time of writing) Could not set current working directory (error 5: access is denied) Also received a gpu(?) related error, having trouble reproducing it Run as administrator seems to fix these issues. I received the following: "Invalid client RPC password. Try reinstalling BOINC." I click okay and the program seems to work fine without further adjustment. Closing and opening the program: error no longer appears. One project was having upload issues (Asteroids@home), seems to be okay now. Solution: open boincmgr from the file directory, properties, check Run As Administrator, create shortcut/pin to taskbar if desired, run program. I did not have to reapply login credentials or add projects at all during this time. Based on that, I wonder if some information is not fully removed/changed post uninstallation or update. | 2) Message boards : Questions and problems : Task Running Android
Message 114442 Posted 12 Aug 2024 by HailThyself |
Tasks run intermittently, showing progress at 0.500 or 0.000 and freezing while the app reports that tasks are running. Anyone know why? App randomly displays please connect to charger message when plugged in after opening phone. Phone set to run while screen is on. App doesn't always fetch and start new tasks. Also unable to add Science United account to the app, says account does not exist. Boinc 8.0.2 Android OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Android 12 World Community Grid |
