Message 117640 Posted 5 Dec 2025 by Luca	A practical example: I checked several projects and none of them have a sitemap.xml nor a robots.txt. Even this website only has the robots file but no sitemap. On Google Search it's often impossible to find my own profile when I look for it, even though the profiles are not set to noindex, so those could be improved too - but I donâ€™t want to bite off more than I can chew. We can start with a robots.txt that specifies the location of the sitemap and a solid sitemap that clearly lists #1 all the projectâ€™s pages and #2 all the forum pages. This would greatly help with visibility and therefore promotion, especially because, as I said, even existing users canâ€™t find what theyâ€™re looking for on Google, let alone people who arenâ€™t users yet. What do you think?

I can't edit my profiles basically. It's not just the URL. Everything I try to change is not accepted because of: That name is in use - go back and try another. The URL is https://consulente-finanziario.org anyway and I changed it without problems in the other projects.

Whenever I try to change my name, I get the following error message: That name is in use - go back and try another. Iâ€™ve already posted about this problem in the forums of those projects, but I havenâ€™t received any replies :-(

Message 115531 Posted 2 Mar 2025 by Luca	Iâ€™ve been trying to understand how the BOINC credit system works but it seems somewhat random to me. Why isnâ€™t it based on a straightforward model where points are awarded proportionally to the actual computing time, adjusted for the number of cores and clock speed of the CPU or the model of the GPU used? Wouldnâ€™t this make the system more fair and transparent? Iâ€™d love to hear your thoughts on why the current method was chosen. For example the credits I've in Asteroids@Home are nothing compared to the ones in Amicable Numbers. I understand there's a logic in the current system but is it the best one we can have?

To understand better, what are the current issues with BOINC? If there are any. What does the project need most? More computing power, more developers, more funding, etc.? Can we create a list of needs?
