| 1) Message boards : BOINC client : BOINC 8.2.4 Windows ARM64 - installer not working
Message 117322 Posted 11 days ago by kasdashdfjsah |
Thanks for the response. I'm afraid I'm not tech savy enough to do this. But in the meantime, I've found that the 8.2.6 version installs without issue, although with some GUI issues in Simple View, and not all projects can be added using this version. So if anybody else has got a snapdragon laptop, please try doing what's suggested here, and provide some results. Hoping you can fix the 8.2.4 Windows ARM64 version at some point :) ChatGPT told me it was a known issue, so maybe you could find some more about this online somewhere. |

Message 117313 Posted 12 days ago by kasdashdfjsah |
Trying to install the ARM64 8.2.4 version of BOINC on my snapdragon x plus laptop, but when I double click the installer, a BOINC installer box appears for just one second, and then nothing else happens. I know I can just use the Intel compatible version, but any known issues with the ARM64 version, since It's not working for me, or some things I can try to make it work? |

In both Chrome and edge, which both have native ARM64 support, it says "download BOINC for WIndows Intel-compatible 64-bit" by default. |

Message 116708 Posted 23 Aug 2025 by kasdashdfjsah |
Just downloaded the Windows 11 ARM version of BOINC 8.2.4, and when I double click the installer, it opens up very shortly, and then crashes, nothing more happens. Hope somebody can help me out. Also, if I just click the green "download BOINC" button, by default, the Intel version comes up. This should be changed, so the BOINC website recognizes the Windows 11 ARM OS and chip/device, and downloads the ARM version by default, instead of the user having to go into "all versions" and then select the ARM version instead of the default Intel version. |

Message 116645 Posted 17 Aug 2025 by kasdashdfjsah |
Just got a Snapdragon X Plus Windows 11 ARM Laptop, and tested a lot of the BOINC projects. But to start off with Folding@Home. No Adreno iGPU utilization, I can select up to the max of 8 cores concurrently, but CPU utilization is only at 50%, with the WU's running through x64, so not ARM native. If you have a fix for the 50% CPU utilization, please reply. As for BOINC, I haven't tested all projects, cause some I already know do not have WU's currently, in general, and some are linux only. But again, none of the projects can utilize the Adreno iGPU, nor does any project have native ARM64 support, the tasks are either x86 or x64. Here are the results from the tested projects: amicable numbers x64 asteroids@home, often no tasks, cause each batch is calculated very quickly, so not recommended. einstein@home x86 LODA, gotta do some more testing, low cpu utilization milkyway@home, between 50 and 90% utilization, only one big task, x64 moo wrapper x64 NFS@Home, website wasn't working. numberfields@home x64 ODLK x64 ODLK1 x64 primegrid one big task x64 (Primorial PRST) rake search x86 Ramanujan machine x64 sidock@home x64 world community grid - getting no tasks YAFU, only 1 "4t" WU concurrently, low cpu utilization in task manager. yoyo@home x64 If you have any questions, comments, solutions, experiences, or other relevant info, please reply and comment, and I'll try to answer questions if I can 🙂 |

How come this battery percentage feature isn't just removed completely, to fix this issue once and for all? |

When clicking the science united button on the home page, a white page just opens up instead of scienceunited.org, why? |

https://www.rechenkraft.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=18615&p=198302#p198302 As you can read in the thread linked above, yoyo@Home says that you should delete the project from the list in the Android app, since it doesn't work anymore, so please do it. |
| 9) Message boards : BOINC Manager : Ubuntu software center - BOINC manager not responding
Message 115954 Posted 22 Apr 2025 by kasdashdfjsah |
Tried installing the BOINC Manager through the ubuntu software center, but when it launched, it immediately said "BOINC Manager is not responding". I know you can download it from the BOINC website too, but if the software center version doesn't work, it should either be fixed or removed, so people don't waste their time getting something to work that doesn't work. |
| 10) Message boards : Projects : Android - non working/inactive project removal from list
Message 115939 Posted 19 Apr 2025 by kasdashdfjsah |
Thst first is not on the project list, and account creation is disabled. Rosetta has unstable WU availability, and Moo wrapper doesn't work. If projects are not on the list, and don't work on the latest devices, Android OS versions and BOINC version, they're not attractive and practical to use, in my opinion, and I won't recommend other projects than the 3 I mentioned before, and this is simply feedback, I don't care if you do anything about this issue or not, I've done my part in providing the feedback, which will give new users the best possible BOIC experience, if hard, they won't bother. |

Message 115937 Posted 19 Apr 2025 by kasdashdfjsah |
Can you please remove the projects from the project list in the Android app that don't work anymore or have been discountinued or whatever, so people don't waste their time trying to make something work that doesn't work anyway? From my testing, only WCG, asteroids, and einstein@home currently work, so please remove the other projects from the list. |

What's going on with Climatepredicion.net at the moment? No WU*s available, the last update was 6 months ago, and they haven't replied to my mail asking about the current status of the project? |

It happens daily, cause the about 1 million WU’s being sent out at a time are being completed so quickly, and then there’s a delay before the next million tasks are available, why you should always have 3-5 projects running concurrently, so you jever run out of WU’s. |

Suddenly got African Rainfall WU’s on my Apple Silicon Mac, along with the current Mapping cancer markers WU’s, despite the system requirements page saying, that no ARM tasks are available, probably cause they’re running under Rosetta 2, but still, most people don’t care about that, they just want working projects and WU’s on their Apple Silicon Mac: https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/topic.s?shortName=minimumreq |

Yeah, but someone told me on their forum, that this requires a much older version of BOINC for some reason, which is very difficult, at least for me, to install, and doesn’t make sense to me either: https://www.primegrid.com/forum_thread.php?id=10735 |

In reply to kasdashdfjsah's message of 28 Feb 2025:Still no tasks, for over a week now on my M4 Mac mini Update: Now getting 10 concurrent WCG tasks again, but only from the Mapping cancer sub project, not the africa rainfall project and open pandemics covid-19 sub projects. Didn't get anything from these before, but still. |
