Thank you for the quick reply.

Can the graphicscard be broken again?

Some websites are not displayed correctly also. I am using firefox on my winXPPro-system (P4-HT). So far only BOINCManager showed those artifacts, but now my browser is too. Same problem as with the old graphicscard. I only use my P4-HT to surf, e-mail and to monitor (RPC) my real BOINC pc which is crunching, CUDA included. Switching off CUDA crunching would not help, because it is on my other machine. My P4-HT is not CUDA capable (NVIDIA FX5200).

Could it be that BM and NAV 2012 don't work well together?

The BM artifacts only seem to show if another task was run and quited while BM is running. If i restart BM from scratch no artifacts show up. That task can be the screensaver or my e-mail program or the browser (I do not use other programs yet, because of the clean install). Is my windows xp still okay?

Anyway, I shall call my dealer tomorrow.......

Darn..., why can't I fix these problems myself.....

Cheers,

William Senn.

Hello,

I am using winxppro-sp3 to monitor my boinc computer via rpc. My dealer changed the graphicscard, which still didn't help. Next they did a clean install. That was fine for about 2 hours, but then the background of BM (around the buttons on the left side and around the big listbox/listview) either contained old data fragments or shows completely transparant or black. NAV does not find any virus, but it must be something weird, either coming from the internet, my router, my boinc pc or my cell phone. Did anyone have this problem before? And how can I solve this? (BM 6.12.34 32 bit for windows, and BM 6.12.34 64 bit windows on my boinc pc).......

Cheers,

3) Message boards : BOINC Manager : Freeze? (Message 4059)

Hello everyone,

I seem to have a total freezing problem too, when running boinc...

I run boinc (5.2.13 in single user mode) on a windows xp sp2 P4 3.0 HT machine... I also have Norton Internet Security 2005, which should be upgraded soon to 2006... I already had a temperature issue, but that was fixed a week ago... Then I thought it was a graphicscard issue, but I switched all the graphics off (screensaver was set to 'off' at windows settings), but the boinc problems still persisted... Then I tried to download and repair boinc again, but still no improvement. Only thing I haven't tried yet, is a complete remove and reinstall of boinc... While repairing the cooling issue, they (at my dealers) told me to get a patch or wait for the next version of boinc...

One thing that was awkward while freezing was that it also disabled USB totally.... Am I looking at another hardware problem or is it still boinc? (maybe stress?!)

Motherboard: Intel D845G(E)BV(2)L Brownsville (HT capable)(2003 I think)

Greetings,

That's the problem, It's a computer at work. I can't check much...
Everything is working on another computer here at work. I'm running an older version af boinc there. Could that be the problem? It's the same with Rosetta@home and LHC.

Your company has a firewall somewhere on the network, I think... Contact your systems administrator for this problem, because I think it's a problem concerning the network (-safety)... Some companies don't allow boinc to be run on company computers, because of certain policies....

sorry to bother you with this question but what is happening here??

I get this, trying to connect to a project on a new computer:

What am i doing wrong?

You should check your internet connection first, then check your firewallsettings whether boinc can pass. It needs standard http access (port 80) and on some occasions / projects it needs also port https (443?! on windows), but not for einstein@home...

Hope this will help...

greetings,

William Senn (Sandeman1967)...
