Why do stats not stay up to date? For example. today, 6.9.24, stats show results as of 6.7.24. Why is that. |

I have a problem wherein my computer screen goes blanck with a tiny word "BOINC" in one corner. In rare instances I can wake it up with mouse click or computer "Enter" clicks. I need help with this. It has to stop as I use this computer for email and other tasks and it must always be available to me. For any help, thanks. |

I do only rarely re-boot. So that might have been the problem. But there is nothing in the directions about how to get the screen saver about needing a re-boot. Thanks for your reply. |

Eureka!! I suffered a 3 minute power failure. The computer running BOINC is a desktop, so no battery. When my generator started I re-started the computer and viola!! The BOINC screensaver began to work. Now I just need to glance away from my work in order to see what is happening, rather than taking the time to go into BOINC Manager to check tasks and stats. |

I did not intentionally add a debug flag to the Event Log Flags window. After I did the installation - all to defaults - I touched nothing in the installation. All I do at BOINC Manager is check Tasks and Statistics. And I would not even do that if I could get the BOINC screen saver to run. I followed the instructions but it does not work for me. I am on Win11 23H2 if that makes any difference. Since everything is running well I will ignore it. Thanks. |

In all projects I used the default configuration. So, to what choice on each project does it refer? I changed nothing. Thanks. |

I do not understand this message and all projects except GPUGRID are running fine. "Notice from BOINC Preference settings don't allow computing (60.00 > 60.00). Please review" Can someone tell me what this is about? Thanks. |

I had been running BOINC in Win 10 and the screen saver worked with no prompting. I upgraded the computer to Win 11 and the screen saver stopped working even after following the proscribed steps outlined for it. Does anyone have any direct knowledge of the BOINC screen saver not running in Win 11? Thanks. |

Yes. This computer had been on Win 10 and then the screen saver just worked with no prompting. Then I went to Win 11 and it stopped working. While I can inquire in a Windows forum I doubt that there will be any help, as most people know nothing about BOINC. I will do it any way. But I will come back here and ask at the BOINC forum if anyone else has any direct knowledge of the screen saver in Win 10 vs Win 11. Thanks. |

Thanks for your reply. The value of the screensaver is that while I am doing my work on another computer I can quickly glance at the computer running BOINC and see what is happening. I know I can check tasks and statistics in the BOINC Manager but that takes more time. |

I have had no reply. I want the screen save to work. What can I do? I am on Win 11 23H2. Is that a problem? The screen saver is a good way to quickly see at a glance what is going on. I know I can check statistics in BOINC Manager and I do that, but that takes unnecessary time away from my work. Please reply. Thanks. |

I searched this before starting a new thread and did not find an answer. i am not seeing the BOINC screensaver. I followed the instructions to go to my home screen, click in the upper right for personalize and then choose the screen saver. How can I get the screen saver to run? Thanks. |

Some time ago I cam back to BOINC after years away, installed, attached, and then totally screwed up my installation. I don't remember exactly what I did, maybe installed BOINC, detached from the projects and re-attached. Seven projects running just fine, four have reported results, a fifth has no results but right now has all processors and will report shortly. The secret? Just don't touch anything. Whatever the defaults are, they are not as bad as the damage I caused by trying to make changes. Glad to be back. Oh!! I was not idle, I installed folding@home which I am keeping. |

When you say "BOINC MANAGER GUI" are you referring to BOINC "Advanced view" or something else? If it is something else, then I have no idea what you mean. But, of course you can very explicitly tell me. If you want to attract new users, then don't assume people know about what you are writing. It would be helpful if the terminology was kept consistently. If I do manage with help to get BOINC working properly I plan to promote it on my blog, which has 600 direct recipients and 1200 on the Facebook Fan page, both world wide. That is a lot of potential,but probably mostly people with little computer knowledge. I have already replied that I would come back if I could get explicit point by point and line by line direction and asked that the terminology be kept consistent, like "BOINC Manager GUI" vs BOINC Manager "Advanced view". I know what "Advanced view" means because that is what I see. I saw no use of "GUI", "graphic user interface" but it is to "GUI" I was directed which is useless. The terminology must be kept consistent. I assume that if I re-installed BOINC I would get back all of the projects to which I was attached with all the problems which I had when I left. They would need to be resolved. I await any reply, positive or negative. |

I already installed folding@home tonight. I did a computer search for other sites and did not see any I liked. Right now when I check my install folding does not recognize my name. I am hoping that is because I have no credits and when I have credits folding will recognize my name. I would come back to BOINC if I could get very explicit line by line and point by point directions to have it work properly. I assume if I re-installed BOINC now it would come back with all of the problems i had when I left. I would want the same projects to which I had previously attached. One of you guys can let me know. |

Thanks for all of the help, but since nothing I did worked I quit and uninstalled BOINC. This is not my first rodeo. I was a cruncher some years ago and managed to accumulate 36,000,000 credits, putting me in 99.7 percentile of all BOINC of all time at least at that time. In those days one never actually interceded in any one project. All administrative tasks, parameters and constraints were done via BOINC, like percentage of CPU usage, etc., which appears could have been possible here had it been made clear to me. I read somewhere that Dave Anderson's team had all left for other jobs and that the projects were on their own, so I assumed I had to constrain each project separately. It was not clear to me that I should have made any adjustment at the BOINC manager. It was never made clear to me that changes at one project would propagate to the other projects. I wasted a lot of time with this and I am not coming back. I still wish to do computer based citizen science and will find somewhere else to go. Any suggestions? |

I have now had to go through each project twice. I followed your suggestion which resulted in "No projects running while computer is not in use." So I went through each project again and put in some usage. What would happen if I simply went to "Restore defaults"? |
