There is a text button called "Advanced View" at the very bottom right of the new interface, in the same row as Messages, Pause and Preferences. As it is text your synthesiser should not have a problem with it and by clicking that button the BOINC manager should permanently switch to the advanced interface.

If you have the feeling that your client is wrong, you can increase the amount of requested work by adding a work_request_factor to your client configuration.

Wasn't 5.6.9 actually broken, reporting always a false suspend state? Updating to a newer version should fix that in this case.

I suggest to update the remote client to a newer version just like your local client - does 4.25 has the password authentication actually?
As you have already set a password in gui_rpc_auth.cfg, you could start the remote client with parameter "-allow_remote_gui_rpc". The IP check will be disabled and that will allow you to connect from everywhere without the need of knowing the address but the password.

I wouldn't edit the client state file because of that value. The connected fraction is currently not used by the client or the server, and on Linux it's always -1, meaning 'unknown', as the value can't be determined on that OS.

Would you please consider opening new browser windows instead of reusing whatever already happens to be open?

The manager just tells the browser to open the website. It's up to the browser how and where to open it. You should look into the preferences of your browser, there should be something like an "Open links from other applications in ..." option.
