1) Message boards : Questions and problems : RAM usage and BOINC client continue after suspending all Projects and exiting BOINC

I quickly found the solution to my problem: "Leave non-GPU tasks in memory while suspended" was checked under Computing Preferences. Unchecking this quickly freed up my RAM when I suspended Projects. I'm fairly certain this was checked by default and I would ask BOINC to leave it unchecked. |

I shut down BOINC before gaming (Star Citizen needs the RAM) by suspending all projects then exiting BOINC (File > Exit BOINC). However, my RAM usage remained at 64% until I performed an End Task on all the "VirtualBox Headless Frontend" processes. This dropped my RAM usage down to ~ 25%. I also noticed the "BOINC client" task is still running. "Exit BOINC" needs to EXIT BOINC and terminate all associated tasks. ![]() |
