Although I know Boinc is not about recognition but about helping the scientific community, I was thinking that it would be a really good thing that BOINC sent a small present or something to those who had passed a certain amount of computing workunits. I'm not suggesting to do the same as Youtube and his Golden Play, but maybe a premade letter from Boinc's director or even a small statue with the BOINC logo or something. The cost of sending something to far away countries rarely is over 10$ and the fabrication of that small statue wouldn't exceed 5$, so for a cheap price Boinc could say thankyou to all those people who have been here for a long time.

Disagree.
Any penny should be used to support the projects.
Very often if they use BOINC is because they cannot afford to buy a dedicated computing cluster.
It doesn't make any sense that they are continuously asking and needing money just to survive, and then spend that money in gifts that would threat that survival.

I guess that is why they invented the "badges". They are free and more than enough recognition for me.

As BOINC doesn't actually do any work it wouldn't be down to them. The projects could give some small award/reward for achievement (and some do, Einstein for instance), other than that it's down to badges and rank in the individual project leaderboards. Combining WUs/points/badges across projects is pointless as they all do different types of work for different amounts of credit.
