Hi all

I'm new to all this and have today downloaded and installed the Boinc software.

However, when the screensaver starts, it comes up with the following message:

No Running Tasks

Computing suspended because processor useage is high...

Can anyone please explain if that means MY pc is running something already (but I'm not running anything), or something to do with the software?

Thanks

Jayne

Hi Jayne,
check in the BOINC Manager (Advanced View), Tools menu > Computing preferences.
Click on the tab "processor usage" and increase the value "while processor usage is less than xx percent" or set the value to 0 (no restriction).

Even when you are not "doing anything" with the computer, it needs to run certain processes in background to keep the operative system up.
Many other applications, like your internet browser, are consuming CPU even if your are not directly using them. If the browser is opened and you have some websites opened, the animations, etc. are probably consuming CPU.

The total CPU consumption of all these processes prevents BOINC to run, if the CPU consumption is above that specified value.

I hope it helps.

If you are using Windows,
execute the program "taskmgr.exe" to see the current CPU usage and what processes are consuming it.
