Hello, My Problem is, that a task only have got a load of 2% from my CPU. This problem occurs on short runs as well as long runs. The project I participate is GPUGRID. I tried to change various preferences, but nothing helped. In the preference site of GPUGRID I changed the settings to: I also tried to change the settings of my BOINC Client to this: Yesterday I also played around with the app_config.xml and tried a lot of various combinations. For example: The result is the following: My system: - OS: Windows 7 64 Bit - CPU: Intel Core i7-3770K CPU @ 3,5 GHZ - RAM: 8,0 GB - Video: NVIDIA Geforce GTX 660 - Drive: Samsung SSD 840 PRO SSD - BOINC Client Version: 7.4.22 How to get a higher CPU load? Thanks a lot |

The GPUGrid 'acemd' tasks are designed - as the project name suggests - to run on GPUs - in your case, the "- Video: NVIDIA Geforce GTX 660". It's not usually necessary or desirable for the CPU to be busy as well. If you want to offer your CPU for scientific research as well, you can attach to another BOINC project and work on that at the same time. |

Keep in mind that GPUGrid does have CPU work. It just isn't always available. They also have CPU work that is multi-threaded and is as well not always available. I point this out because some don't realize that they offer more than GPU work nowadays. But as Richard stated, the work unit you are looking at is most likely a GPU work unit which does not require much CPU during the majority of the processing. |

Not to be mean, but doesn't the name "GPUgrid" give a hint? Most of the tasks from this project run on the GPU. The 2% you're seeing on the CPU is because the processor still has to be the monkey in the middle for the GPU and BOINC data. |
