We, the iGEM Team Heidelberg, are proud to announce that we officially launched iGEM@home. iGEM is an international student competition in the field of Synthetic Biology, where students from all over the world develop cool new applications for genetically engineered machines. Synthetic Biology is about the design and implementation of biological machines with artificial functions. Previous iGEM Teams have for example developed bacteria that can degrade waste, produce biofuel and detect toxins. As being a student competition, the teams only have limited resources, especially computing power. We therefore decided to tackle this problem and setup the platform iGEM@home. Right now we are using iGEM@home to predict the folding of proteins to finally enhance their function in the lab. And we hope that other iGEM teams will join us soon. If you have any questions please visit http://igemathome.org/ or feel free to ask them here. And please EMPOWER SCIENCE by adding http://igemathome.org to your projects. |

Doesn't seem to work on Windows XP 32-bit. Keeps getting "not a valid Win32 application" errors. Works on Win7 32-bit systems. |

Hello BobCat13, Thanks for the hint. We are sorry for your inconvenience. This issue might be due to some incompatibility problem with an encryption library we use and Windows XP. We will try to fix that problem as soon as we get access to computer running Windows XP. Best, Constantin (iGEM Team Heidelberg) |

The front page doesn't seem to be very clear on how to get to your account logon page after you have created an account. Perhaps a link so that returning contributors can easily follow. Also, having the forums set up is incredibly helpful. Then, when you are ready you should either contact the stats sites or post in your forum a public approval to allow the exporting of your stats. This is the easiest way to get contributors to show up. I would also recommend activating the global team creation server side so that we don't have to manually create them ourselves and that the team founders will get notice of a new project. Thanks in advance. I look forward to your project. http://igemathome.org/igemathome/index.php |

I can't even attach to the project properly. The account gets created, I can log in etc, but the client just fails at: 11/09/14 17:04:39||Fetching configuration file from http://igemathome.org/get_project_config.php No message boards either, which is a bit naughty. |

I can't even attach to the project properly. The account gets created, I can log in etc, but the client just fails at: I connected and created an account with no problem under BOINC v. 7.4.12. Try the link I posted above and see if you can create an account that way from the web page... |

For some reason I have to use a 7.x.x client to attach, even though account creation works with older clients. Attached one machine, awaiting message boards :) |

Thanks for your feedback. We have now set up the message board, allowed the import of global teams and contacted BOINCstats to display your contributions. Tomorrow we want to tackle the layout of our Main page http://www.igemathome.org/ and include easier access to BOINC specific pages. Right now you can find the pages here. If you experience any bugs please report them either here or directly in our forum. Best, iGEM Team Heidelberg |

Looks like you have locked your forums, so only moderators and administrators can start threads. That is only needed on the News forum, not on the others. First posts of new threads in the News forum get displayed in the News on the BOINC front page of the project, and if you enabled it, sent out as Notices to clients capable of showing them. Edit: Ah no, I see that one has to be logged in first before the New Thread button is available. |
