I get this error message on logoff when rebooting Win7 64-bit, with BOINC 7.4.12 (x64) installed as a service. I don't have this problem when it is installed as a non-service. Normally I just click "OK" and it shuts down and reboots with no further problems. Occasionally I get a "boincmgr.exe - Application error" stating that an instruction at 0x3fc5f6db referenced at 0x00000000 could not be read. I have tried repairing BOINC, and even changing the compatibility mode for all the .exe files in the Program Folder to Vista, to no avail. This seems to be similar to a problem I reported before, except that the "boincsvcctrl.exe" file is not missing in the program folder, and so the repair does not fix it. http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=9058 This has been a problem on and off (mainly on) ever since 7.0.64 on my main PC. I have other dedicated PCs where it is not a problem, so it may be interference from some other program, but I have shut every one I see and have not found it. (Also, this machine is Win7 Pro x64, whereas the others are Win7 Home Premium x64). |

I'll ask the developer to come take a look. |

I chatted with the developer last night. He has promised me to look into your problem, and he was already looking into another BOINC setup/permissions problem, so this one may be of the same sort. |

I think I know what is going on here. I'll commit a fix for the next release. ----- Rom BOINC Development Team, U.C. Berkeley My Blog |
