I'm running BOINC 7.0.65 (x86) under Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. I would like to update it using the Ubuntu Software Center, but apparently even that is a backport from A later release.

The reason I want to use the Ubuntu Software Center is so I'll keep the database of installed software in synch.

Is this not possible? So should I install the bin file separately?

I thought I submitted a previous question about this, but I cannot find it.

Berkeley isn't responsible for updating BOINC in the package manager of your Linux distribution. The Package Maintainer is responsible for that.

See this older thread at AskUbuntu.com on how to deal with that.
