So I've noticed the issue that this guy here has tried to fix, namely that GPU tasks make fullscreen video really jumpy.
The accepted solution seems to be to add the video program to the program exclusion list, whether for CPU or GPU tasks. However, watching Flash videos through a web browser (for instance YouTube or ABC iView or what have you) uses two instances of FlashPlayerPlugin_*.exe which are also used for simpler things like Facebook, and I'm not sure there's a way to differentiate between these two usages.
In the above forum post, it's noted that the proposed code would prevent the BOINC screensaver from running. However, I was wondering if it would be possible to modify that code to check if boinc.scr (or indeed *.scr) was running in concurrence with a detected fullscreen window, and if so, to leave BOINC GPU tasks running. I gather that .scr screensaver files are renamed .exe files through I'm not sure whether they can be detected as running in the same manner. But if so, perhaps that could be a solution?
I know here in Australia that Flash video is taking off massively, with pretty much every TV network having a catch-up video site. It would be a good thing to accommodate, if possible.
