angelus78 Send message Joined: 29 May 06 Posts: 5	Message 4550 - Posted: 29 May 2006, 20:49:49 UTC Last modified: 29 May 2006, 21:07:24 UTC I tried to install the new 5.4.9 version of BOINC but as it's going through the installation it keeps asking me for the boinc.msi file and when I direct it to where I find it it "boinc.msi is not a valid installation package for the product BOINC try to find the installation package boinc.msi in a folder from which you can install boinc.what should I do? Have you updated the Windows Installer completely (through Windows Update for instance)? You'll need WI 2.0 for Win98/SE/ME and WI 3.1 for Win2k/XP at minimum. Also make sure you don't install to a hidden partition or directory. ID: 4551 ·

See what this advice can do. other then giving me a log of what goes wrong, absolutely nothing and now I've discovered I can't even uninstall the old version either because it brings up the uninstaller which is alot like the installer and looks for the same msi file.
