BOINC seems to keep all the project data files in c:\\program files\\BOINC\\projects....

I have a much bigger (and faster) D: drive I'd prefer that BOINC use, but cannot find a setting to specify an alternate folder.

Is there a way to make BOINC use a different drive? How?

Boinc needs the project executable and data folders to be inside the Boinc folder itself.
What you can do is install Boinc to a different drive.

Download the Boinc manager, the current recommended version is 5.4.9.
Exit Boinc (file menu - exit)
Uninstall Boinc from the Control Panel - Add and Remove program list. The Boinc folder and sub-folders will be preserved.
Move the entire folder from C:\\program files\\BOINC to D:\\BOINC
Re-install Boinc - redirecting the install to D:\\BOINC
All your data and project attachment should be as it was and WU will continue crunching were it left off.
