Note this is only happening with tasks on Android from yoyo@home: These examples are taken from my samsung galaxy s3....

This is frustrating when say you take a device off the charger after 10 hours of work to have it be reset....

This has been ocurring on 3 of my android devices...
one HP Touchpad running Cyanogen mod 9
one HP Touchpad running Cyanogen mod 10
and one samsung galaxy s3 running stock sprint android v

version of android:

showing i suspended yoyo@home task after 5.30 minutes of crunching(phone time 7:45pm):

showing i resumed yoyo@home task note 0.0% complete and time also reset(phone time 7:46pm):

If there is a better place to log these issues please let me know and I will move to the appropriate area to get this in front of the right people.

You seem to be running Simap too. Does the task reset happen to Simap as well or is it yoyo only? If it's yoyo only see this post in their forums.

How is that post related to my issue? Doesn't seem related at all

Does Android have a setting like Leave applications in memory?

If I have understood correctly by default apps are run only when the phone is connected to charger and suspended when the phone is disconnected from charger. Further, BOINC on Android recently got a feature where apps are paused (suspended?) "when screen is on".

If apps are removed from memory when they are suspended then the yoyo post is related. When BOINC continues the tasks they are restarted=loaded into memory and apparently that particular app doesn't tell BOINC how far it got last time and therefore BOINC shows it starting from 0.

If the apps are not removed from memory then that post is not related. Since Simap tasks don't restart from 0 I'd go and blame the yoyo app.

You can see from my list of projects that the yoyo project is the only one that i am experieincing this issue. I am new to this process so I am not familiar with the process enough to understand where the points of failure could be....so being this is only happening with the yoyo project/tasks you think there is code change needed by the yoyo project (specific to android?) Who would be the appropriate team to look into this/troubleshoot?

You can register and post in their Number Crunching forum. It's English. http://www.rechenkraft.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=57

The science application does all the crunching, and therefore also the writing to disk of checkpoints. However, so not to stress out the internal memory too much and have too many writes/timeframe go to it, the application under Android may take multiple minutes between checkpoints.

Also, as I read yoyo's post (yoyo is the main administrator and developer for Yoyo@home), he says that it can happen that a task seems to restart from zero, but that it has in reality started from a checkpoint, just that BOINC doesn't show that.

In any case, you best ask at the Yoyo@Home forums first. It's their application that resets.
