Is there a listing of video cards with OpenCL 1.2 and other characteristics that make them desirable for BOINC processing? I have a Windows desktop and the card I have (Radeon X600/X550 - Microsoft - WDDM) works, however, I keep seeing references to newer cards that allow for more rapid processing. I need some suggestions so I can shop for one I can afford. I am processing SETI and Rosetta.

Thanks.

There's no list of videocards. However, with OpenCL1.2 requirement, that means either the built-in Intel products or AMD. Nvidia's stuck at OpenCL1.1 and won't move from there.

So then that leaves the question of your system, mainly what kind of motherboard, the size of your case, the strength of your power supply unit and how big a wallet you have.

Are you sure you have the right card? The Radeon X300-X600 series came out nearly 10 years ago. I think the lowest of the Radeon cards currently supported by any BOINC project is the HD2000 series.

It's rather difficult to figure out which card is the best for BOINC, since there is a high degree of variability in the requirements for each project. Your best bet would probably be to ask around at the project(s) you are most interested in helping.

The requirements are set by each individual project, there's no universal standard set by BOINC. Most of the projects have abandoned support for the early generation compute-capable GPUs, which is unfortunate since most of them still offer better performance as compared to CPU. But, driver and software support for many of those early GPGPUs was incomplete, which makes them difficult to code for.
