Sounds promising. Thanks. Yes I'm a little surprised that NASA of all organizations would be so mean with such a project as far as resources go. |

I'm a little surprised that NASA of all organizations would be so mean with such a project as far as resources go. We may have to be grateful for anything we can get. Personally, I'm surprised that Republicans, who have controlled the House of Representatives for all but two years of this century, didn't kill off NASA's climate research budget long ago. |

Hey everyone... I couldn't post to the thread that directly covered the topic of the homepage URL for this project being hijacked by some ad company... however, I was able to reverse engineer the proper addy: http://physicshome.tk/physics/ No at in the URL. Also, this thing has a TLD of Tokelau, .tk, so... well, who knows what they allow at the main server in Tokelau lol... If someone wants to move this post, pls do, but I wanted everyone to see this ASAP... Peace, Cesium... :) The pretty lady you see is Hayley Westenra, a classical singer from Christchurch, NZ. I invite you to get to know her music and exquisite voice... |

The homepage URL for physics@home changed when they moved to new servers ages ago and the thread explaining it is here: http://physicshome.tk/physics/forum_thread.php?id=43&postid=256#256 It's also open to posting. This thread is about project outages anyway, not problem URL's. The mention earlier of climate@home can be ignored, it's back in operation. |

WuProp has been down / offline since about 2014-01-05 01:01:37 UTC -- A bit over 4 hours now. I did notice the servers being sluggish in downloading new work and web page loading problems for about 1 to 1.5 hours prior to the outage. There was no notices posted to the message board so it is most likely an unplanned outage. |

CPDN main project Jonathan says: Jonathan says: Hi, I have to take the project database off-line for the first of (hopefully only) two upgrades at the end of this week. I will schedule the downtime from: 12 Noon GMT on 10 Jan until 12 Noon on 13 Jan 2014. There will be no database access during this downtime. For those who are interested, this the first step towards retiring our old database server, and moving her functions over to the virtualised infrastructure at the Oxford e-Research Centre. CPDN main project Things are up and running again apart from one upload server. Jonathan now needs to make an extra backup and will be closing down the databases again within an hour from now. He expects this extra backup to be completed within 24 hours. |

Collatz went invisible last night -- its been unreachable for about 15 hours. Anyone have any news about the outage. I'm posting this as something of a test -- I posted a similar message over in the MW project crunchers page to see where 1st response happens. |

Indeed, wonder if he is out of town for the long weekend. Hopefully, we'll see something in the next day or so... Collatz went invisible last night -- its been unreachable for about 15 hours. |

OK -- so he's back at home - just posted this on the temporary Collatz home page: "The Collatz server is currently down. I do not have an estimate of when it will be back online at this time. Please check back later." Indeed, wonder if he is out of town for the long weekend. |

I just checked back to the Collatz site -- no response at all again. That might actually be good news -- as for the past day or so the place holder saying 'server down, don't know when it will be back live' was showing. The inference is that it is being worked on. |

from the collatz site: The Collatz server is currently down due to a hard drive controller failure. New hardware should arrive in the next day or two. A complete rebuild of the operating system, BOINC, and the Collatz software and project setup will then need to be done prior to the project coming back online. As this will be a complete rebuild, there is no sense hanging on to any completed workunits at this time. So, go ahead and abort any workunits you have whether they are complete or not. I expect the project will remain down for the next 10-15 days while I set it all back up and test it. Sorry for any inconvenience. And yes, I will make up for the lost credits once everything is back up and running. |

He's just posted an update -- not good news -- figure about 2 weeks before the server is rebuilt and online: The Collatz server is currently down due to a hard drive controller failure.
