Hi All, I installed the Windows client (on XP SP2) in 'Sigle-user' mode, but would now ideally like to run it as a service instead. Is there an easy way to change mode without losing all my settings and work in progress? Thanks in advance, Greg. |

Yes, simply start the installation again and specify 'Service' mode. All settings and work in progress will be preserved. (Hmm, if your current Win client is some 5.x.xx version, sure. If older than some of the 4.xx series, than you would be possibly requested to start the uninstall manually prior to installation. But everything will be still preserved.) Peter |

Yes, simply start the installation again and specify 'Service' mode. All settings and work in progress will be preserved. Thanks, but I've already tried that. The installer gives me options to 'Repair' or 'Remove' BOINC, and 'Repair' doesn't ask for the mode again. Client version is 5.2.13. Greg. |

Go to Add/remove programs under Control Panel in Windows. Find the BOINC entry and remove it. (leave the BOINC folder alone, don't go deleting it by hand or anything!) Then navigate to your Boinc 5.2.13 installer file and start installing it. Point its position to your old BOINC folder. Choose service install. Give in the password for the Administrator. (the Windows Admin does need a password!) And that's about it. |

Find the BOINC entry and remove it. (leave the BOINC folder alone, don't go deleting it by hand or anything!) So if I uninstall BOINC, it'll leave the settings and work-in-progress in place? Greg. |

Find the BOINC entry and remove it. (leave the BOINC folder alone, don't go deleting it by hand or anything!) That is correct. The Boinc folder itself is not effected by uninstall, only a few registry entries. Boinc V 7.4.36 Win7 i5 3.33G 4GB NVidia 470 |

Great! It's now installed as a service. Thanks for your help everyone. Greg. |
