Could you explain the option "<allow_multiple_clients>0</allow_multiple_clients>"?
The BOINC client runs on my local machine, that I understand.

According to the log file, BOINC detects both GPUs but doesn't use them. I realize I'm telling BOINC not to use the 1st one.
This line in the log file concerns me:
clGetPlatformIDs() failed to return any OpenCL platforms

AMD says the all GPUs have to use the same drivers. This makes it hard for my legacy card HD4850 and the HD5570 to coexist. AMD/ATI could have used a better directory structure.
AMD suggests running the CCC 13.1. But if I do, the installer won't load the APP runtime.
Has anyone found a way to load separate drivers for each GPU?

Do I need a client for each CPU, GPU?
Do I need to setup directories or will the BOINC Manager do this for me?

Thanks in advance.

The BOINC client runs on my local machine, that I understand.

Boinc concists of the Boinc client, Boinc Manager (the GUI) and the Boinctray (the idle detection program), normally you can only run one client,
the <allow_multiple_clients>0</allow_multiple_clients> cc_config option allows you to run extra clients, which allows you to configure them differently, say running a pre-Fermi GPU on one and a post-Fermi GPU on the other.

According to the log file, BOINC detects both GPUs but doesn't use them. I realize I'm telling BOINC not to use the 1st one.
This line in the log file concerns me:

Thanks in advance.

AMD/ATI OpenCL support for XP has been deprecated, the last driver with OpenCL support was Cat 12.1, running later drivers than that either causes OpenCL not to be detected, or in some cases causes the host to Blue screen:

ATI Driver Version Cheat Sheet

I'd say that there is a problem with Boinc detecting the correct OpenCL platforms and is giving up, does GPUCapsVieiwer detect any other OpenCL Platforms or devices?

If BOINC detects one of my GPUs, will it automatically create the data directories needed?
Should I add anything to the cc_config to aid in debugging?

Thanks

I'd be very tempted to uninstall Cat 12.1, make sure all the files are removed, and reinstall it,
Any idea what the minimum driver for a HD 5570 is?

Because the Catalyst Uninstaller doesn't remove the files it installed in the System32 directory you should either remove them manually, or use the Atiman uninstaller, AMD have supplied an uninstall utility, but it only for Windows 7:

Dlls from Catalyst driver left behind after uninstallation

Atiman Uninstaller

Note: I've never used the Atiman Uninstaller, TBar recommended it recently to Swordfish to fix his Windows 8 host:

You can always use Driver Sweeper. It's Windows XP compatible: http://www.techspot.com/downloads/4266-driver-sweeper.html

Message 49703 - Posted: 23 Jun 2013, 21:39:49 UTC - in response to Message 49691.

By default the Catalyst 12.1 package loads the following packages:
CCC 2011.1205.2146.38999
AMD Catalyst Install Manager: 3.0.859.0
AMD Display Driver: 8.930.0.0000
HDMI Audio Driver: 5.18.0.5511
AMD APP SDK version: 10.0.851.4 <<< Out of sequence?

So I uninstalled the SDK and installed
AMD APP SDK Runtime: 2.6.831.4 [2.6 SDK]

Prior to that, I uninstalled everything in windows and restarted in safe mode. Then I ran Driver Fusion (Disksweeper) and then CCleaner. Then I restarted XP and installed the drivers. When I uninstalled the AMD APP SDK: 10.0.851.4, there was no way to determine what to clean. So I just installed the new SDK 2.6. Now I guess I will have to start from scratch, clean everything and intstall the Catalyst 12.1 package again.

I don't how to determine the minimum driver the HD5570 can use.

The HD5570 was released in October 2009. So any driver you have is good enough. Your only hiatus is that Catalysts 12.2 and further do not have OpenCL drivers under Windows XP. You NEED a newer Windows for that. Or use at maximum 12.1

Understood.

I just noticed that the SDK 2.6 is installed under C:\AMD\Support\streamsdk_2-6-RC3_win732.

I wish I knew why the SDK that came with the Catalyst 12.1 package has a version of 10.0.851.4.

If BOINC detects one of my GPUs correctly, will it automatically start doing work?
I have it enabled in the BOINC Manager options.
