First downloaded it to the laptop. After the msi file is extracted I get the following error message: "The feature that you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable." "Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate folder containing installation package "BOINC.msi" in the box below. The box shows a path to C:\Windows\Downloaded Installations\{17659DF........... and more. If I move to the next installation package in the list BOINC is shown as an icon to the right of the path. If I choose that package I get a message telling me that it is an invalid installation package. So I am down until somebody can help with a fix/solution. Thanks, Jim |

First clean all old remnants of BOINC [MS Cleanup or CCleaner e.g.]. Often installing the old version you had will fix the missing boinc.msi issue [The Windows Programs uninstall screen will list the version you had]. Then you can install the new version over it. Notwithstanding a sure 'I did not remove it', you overzealous disk cleaning software may have, do *not* remove the boinc.msi ever of the currently installed version or you run into the problem again. There's a BOINC FAQ about this one. |

Thank you for your prompt response. I am back up and running on the desktop and will repair the installation on the laptop next. Jim |

And Richard thank you too. I am going to print the FAQ to file and keep it with my technical notes. Jim |
