I have been using this program for a few months and works great until occasionally it will just stop starting projects. For instance right now it has been stuck on 4.2% of a climate prediction project for a few days. Before I figured out that if I just add a project it would start back up again, and even return to work on past projects. However, I just added a project last night and nothing happened. Any help much appreciated. |

If you go to the Activity menu and CPU/GPU to Run Always and things start processing, your local / web profile options are bound to have been set such that no work will be done. E.g. You can set BOINC to not process until X minutes of no system use. At the same time you can set BOINC to actually pause when the system has not been used for X minutes [to facilitate it to auto-hibernate/sleep], and voila, BOINC does nothing at all. Now, if you set the Activity menu to Run Always and nothing happens, then start by clearing local preferences [There's a button for that in Computing Preferences screen of BOINC Manager]. This clearing eliminates possible conflicts... you think one setting is in effect when in fact another 'overrides', where the rule is that local prefs supersede web venue/location settings. BTW, what client version exactly? Coelum Non Animum Mutant, Qui Trans Mare Currunt |

I am using 7.0.28 (x64) It started after selecting Run Always. I didn't think the computing preferences were the issue because it usually starts automatically when I haven't moved the mouse. But I am wondering if my computer has been running for a long time it starts to use up more than the 25% that I had the limit set to not run and it uses less power when restarted or something. I bumped up the power usage to 50% and I'll keep messing with things now that I know it can run without the preferences. |
