I notice that the outrage main page has been updated to "ten hour" from "four hour". So there is that... Looks like they took it offline very early due to the lack of any work (was Centurion down again?) |

I notice that the outrage main page has been updated to "ten hour" from "four hour". So there is that... Centurion was not down, but there was no GBT data loaded for it to split, and the PFB splitters had 5 out of 7 hung up on a stuck data channel, so work to send ran out quickly. |

An added bonus is that ATM Einstein is down, double the outrage to enjoy. |

An added bonus is that ATM Einstein is down, double the outrage to enjoy. Oh yes. Well, anticipating things, I had my machines gorge on Seti Beta tasks before the outrage. Happy Double Outrage Day. Everyone have a happy Valentine's day as well. |

Since the RTS well is dry it will take a long time to recover. |

Good, no Windows Updates this Tuesday. MSRC Team, February 14, 2017 wrote: Our top priority is to provide the best possible experience for customers in maintaining and protecting their systems. Good, no Windows Updates this Tuesday. So now they'll shove it down our throat on a day we aren't prepared for it, and you know their last minute fix will have broken it! sigh /* this update will BSOD and make random changes to BIOS if BOINC is installed */ If (BOINC) && (rand > 0.25) makebrick(); bsod(); abort(); // code should not reach here |

They don't really need BOINC for that, they can easily make your system crash without any outside help. Plus it's gsod() on Win10. Edit: Ever since a Windows 2000 update left me with a non-starting system, have I always waited 4 weeks of more before I update Windows. Yes, I make a backup each month, but that still takes several hours to put back. I'd rather not go through that fest again. |

And we're back up, but still stuck at two splitters instead of seven (or fourteen). I've emailed the lab: could somebody else keep their toes to the toaster while I sleep, please? |

Surely it shouldn't be that tough to add some code to the PFB splitters to "lock" files so that they don't fight for a file and get locked up each week... |

I know that running, not running, and disabled, refer to the server programs not the servers themselves. But if not functional they can be considered as off-line to users! Except of course for the fact that those boxes are doing other jobs as well :) (Centurion excepted, I think) [grins] Perhaps considering them as processes alters the paradigm a bit? |

Bit of fun last night in Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., with a reference to Seti@Home. I've obscured it, if you want to read it select it. If you don't want to know, then don't. Coulson: What the hell is this? |

I always find it amusing that Sapphire Gin, apparently made in the UK, calls itself "London Gin" yet on the label it also says "Imported". The name Bombay comes from the drinks popularity in India during the Raj. I'd have thought maybe that was only on non-UK bottles? All a matter of perspective, I guess. |
