LOL. Just think, it might NOT be back Monday & they decide to stay down until Wed to cover the regular Tues fun.
Now that would be some bitching from all those that micro-manage. :-)

. . Hey, the biggest problem it creates for us micro managers is that it leaves us with nothing to do but twiddle our thumbs. It gets very boring ... :)

. . Something strange. My last rigs with any work are the 2 windows boxes. One says "server cannot open database" but the other says "no scheduler URL in masterfile". Anyone have an explanation for that ?

Gotta hand it to GPU Grid. Piece of cake to get up running, and one of the nicest BOINC implementations I've seen. Helpful and easy to find FAQs, even.
Tempos in the teens, and 8" of snow coming; needed the GPU heat soon :)

Same here. This error is presumably returned by the Scheduler (synergy), which is running, because it can't find the database server (Carolyn) due to it being down, and it may well be the masterfile itself is also located on Carolyn.

Just a warning: GPUGrid programs are highly optimized and push a lot from the GPU.
So keep and eye on your GPU temps and increase the speed of the fan if necessary.

Thanks for the heads-up, Juan, and a good warning to others as well.
I had noticed that, and use HWInfo to watch temps on all boxes across the network.

Server database is offline and also the scheduler so that is what prompts your Event Log messages.
Current servers status is here. https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/sah_status.html

Not having any problems with my twin GTX1070FE at 1 task each, temps are actually a couple of degrees cooler then when running 2 each of SETI SOG.

Are we talking about the same program? GPUGrid leave the GPU to it's top crunching performance, that is translated in a increase of the heat generated. Unless of course your configuration make your host run slower when that happening. I'm not saying there is any problem, GPUGrid is one of the best Boinc projects IMHO, what i say is just to keep the eye on the temps and adjust your cooling settings to handle that if needed.

On another topic. Besides the DB crash notice anyone has any inside on what is the expected time needed to fix the problem?

GPUGRID is really putting a load on my single fan GTX1060. I stopped OC and really cranked up the fan and it still is 10c warmer than SOG. The credit it awards is ridiculous, 13,350 for 1 hr and 20 min. Oh well the science is worthwhile.

Depending on which work unit it can raise temp by 10C. There's a new batch of Pablo work units that really stress the GPUs. Even with my hybrids, the temps are going higher than usual. So keep an eye on them and make sure you are able to keep them cool.

Yes I noticed the Pablo units work the gpu harder than the usual ilk. I also have seen the ones that Richard mentioned, the PABLO_ADAPTIVE ones that have run for 7 1/2 hours on GTX 1070 Ti. I don't think I have ever seen a GPUGrid task go longer than 4-5 hours normally. But these ones are new and pay out 351K for returning within 24 hours. In case people didn't know, GPUGrid pays out 2X for returning work within 24 hours or 1.5X for returning within 48 hours. So you are warned about the short deadlines.
