Ah, so it's not the Great Wall of China getting in the way (although is probably behind me, not before me...)

Not weird the server is down: all BLC work and all VLAR. My RX470 has no problems with them though, just chewing through them, 7 an hour.

Let's see what happens after this weekend. Or perhaps Tuesday.

It might make sense to bring the outage a day forward. Can't see main coming back up today.

Would rather see them keep it down until a more permanent fix is done.

I still have a bad feeling about that Informix database being stressed to its limits...
Why do we keep speculating about Informix? It's a commercial, industrial-strength database system (now owned and maintained by IBM) that SETI uses for just one purpose: to hold the project's 'Crown Jewels' - the results (so far) of our searches for ET. It has nothing to do with our daily processing - our tasks, our gollum points, our messages (public and private). Those all live in a different database system entirely, and which - like the Informix database - seems to be running entirely as normal this weekend.

What has gone down is the web server, running (IIRC) Apache. That must be irritating for the staff, as it is for us. But I really don't think that mis-identifying the problem helps us towards a cure.

How odd, my rx480 does 6-7 per hour too, guess there's not much between the two gpu's ;-)

All my gpu's are Nvidia , 750 ti's , 1050 ti's and a 1060 they crunch away and whatever the " flavor" the wu's may be don't seam to affect any of their run times . Might get 1 or 2 wu's a month that get " stuck" but that's just " one of those things" . Out of all the wu's completed 1 / 2 ain't that much in the " big picture "

Did think the " lab" had a lot more Green Bank tapes vs Arecebo tapes to process nowadays.

As far as I know, you have about 300 stream processors more than I have, 2048 vs 2304, and the RX470 uses less electricity. But that's about it. http://gpuboss.com/gpus/Radeon-RX-480-vs-Radeon-RX-470

Yes it is, I didn't expect that. Crunching Seti has always been exciting.

Just found my system being very loudly. it appears there's a problem with my GPU fan. I'd seen this one since the beginning, where Speedfan doesn't always show the fanspeed of the GPU, lots of times just showing '0 RPM'. But this time it truly was at 0 RPM, while idle. Meaning the GPU temp at idle was 76C... and with just a bit of load on it, the fan was really loud.

Fixed that with a reboot. Will address that to Sapphire.
Back to Orsinium in ESO for now.

Edit: I installed TriXX 3.0 which has gotten it under control. That the CPU fans stop at times is apparently normal, when the GPU is idle it doesn't need extra cooling and shuts the fans down. Fine. I've now set up that the Sapphire on the card shows by the colour what temperature it is at, so I can see that in passing.

Ah, I see. For fun and games, I only have to be here, like you are. Stirring here, stirring there, see how far you can go. But remember what I told you.

It would appear that Einstein is down now... for some hours. Interesting...

Edit...

Probably not the best place to post this but there isn't an Einstein is down thread, lol

seems like gremlins in the servers...Can't see how it might be related to Seti but one has to wonder?? Maybe someone decide to attack the servers?? Why? But then again, when has not having a reason stopped anyone... Fingers crossed for both projects figure out the issues.
